***Preparation For The Ball***

**********Please Subscribe To My Blog…..It Really Helps********** As I’m posting this….. My fully armed chili is being distributed and dispensed….to unsuspecting riders….. They are partaking in my sumptuously prepared dish of multiple bean chili…(and sausage)….. Tomorrow is our last Fox Hunt of this Season…and we look forward to next year….. And after the riders have trailered their mounts home….. …..bathed their Hunt horses…showered themselves…and otherwise readied themselves for our annual Hunt Club Ball (this evening)….. Their gastric appliances have been…

**********Please Subscribe To My Blog…..It Really Helps********** The mark of a good (self-professed) writer is one who picks timely…interesting…appropriate blog posts….. I’m none of those things….. And this post probably illustrates that completely….. The up-coming fart innuendoes are both immature and inappropriate….. …..(but really funny if you think about it)….. And I figured…because I’m only writing this post to my friend Pascal…it’s only a musing between him and me…so it doesn’t matter….. *****(Remind Me?  Who’s Pascal?)***** Pascal is not to…

~~~The Fox Hunt~~~
**********Please Subscribe To My Blog…..It Really Helps********** There are just a couple more Hunts in this year’s Hunt Season….. Then there’s the All Florida Meet…(which is open to members of other Hunts)….. And then there’s the Hunt Club Ball…and then that’s it for this Season of Fox Hunting….. From what I understand…several foxes were actually viewed this Season…but still the vast majority of the chases were the ever abundant coyotes….. Those guys are so fast…it’s good aerobic training for the…
~~~He Came Back!~~~

*******Please Subscribe To My Blog…..It Really Helps******* Well this IS good news….. Our new blacksmith actually returned for the mare’s second trimming!….. He seemed committed last month when he first came to trim the girls….. But you never know where blacksmiths are concerned…especially when it comes to trimming the big horses….. As I’d posted before…Montana quit on us…and from the horse-gossip I’ve recently heard…he’s quit on blacksmithing entirely….. However…we were able to find and hire Arizona as our new farrier……..

~Arizona & The Girls~

*******Please Subscribe To My Blog…..It Really Helps******* The mares were compliant…(Thank God)….. They stood nicely for our new blacksmith…they didn’t lean on him…or take naps on his back…or squish him…or nibble off an ear….. I knew Pepper was good with blacksmiths…but I was unsure about Crimson…up until now (apparently) she’s only been a pasture pony….. But all’s well that ends well….. No harm…no foul….. Arizona has taken us on as new clients…and will come back again for other scheduled visits……..

Blacksmiths Aren’t What They Used To Be

Blacksmiths Aren’t What They Used To Be

*******Please Subscribe To My Blog…..It Really Helps******* It wasn’t easy….. But we found one….. Our past blacksmith quit on us….. After Claire and then Brave passed…a little bit of time went by…but not much….. When I recontacted him…our farrier said he’d been ill…after an exposure to glyphosates…(not the first time we’ve heard that)….. ~~~Don’t Get Me Started On Round-Up and Monsanto and Bayer~~~ My farrier had a single occurrence Grande Mal seizure…and after that…he decided he was only going to…

*******Please Subscribe To My Blog…..It Really Helps******* But we did it….. One more Halloween Hunt Club Tea under our belt….. There were about forty people at our Guest Hunt event last Saturday….. I believe a good time was had by all…but honestly…I’m still cross-eyed tired….. But we got everything down to the host’s ranch ahead of time in the morning….. We were set up before the field came back in….. I think they got on a coyote run…but I’m really…

*******Please Subscribe To My Blog…..It Really Helps******* Today my daughters and I are in a whir…baking and cooking….. Tomorrow is our Halloween Tea at a local ranch where we Fox Hunt….. It’s a Guest Hunt…so there should be more riders and guests than usual…maybe around forty….. …..it’s a little hard to estimate the amount of food to prepare and bring….. …..so it’s better to over-do rather than under-do………….too little food & drink is just a bummer….. We’re going to have…

I Never Want To Talk About Dog Fennel Again

I Never Want To Talk About Dog Fennel Again

*******Please Subscribe To My Blog…..It Really Helps******* …..and yet…here I am….. The big towering dog fennel is mostly mowed down now…and little new fresh sprigs are thinking it’s appropriate to try sprouting back….. I’ll have at it with the bush hog again before the fluffy little sprout-lets can get a foot hold….. I haven’t even had a chance to start on the front pasture…because I can’t shove the gates open wide enough yet to get the tractor through….. The dog…

*******Please Subscribe To My Blog…..It Really Helps******* The Hunt Season has begun….. Pepper is still down at Mary Constance’s…but she’s fit enough to go out on several Hunts already….. She really seems to be enjoying herself…she already knows the in’s & out’s of being a Whipper-In’s mount….. It’s a little more complicated than what she would be doing with me….. My Hunt contributions really cap out at how many flasks I can hide all over myself and in my saddlebags……..
