If you’ve ever seen me ride…you’d know…I know nothing about Dressage…..

Dressage is steeped in history…..

But the art of riding Dressage…..(?)

…..nope…..

…..I don’t get it…..

I’ll be the one eating a corndog at ring side…..

I’ve learned (the hard way) there are definitely times NOT to boisterously cheer…..

…..and generally speaking…..

…..dressage shows are one of those times…..

No one there appreciates a good Woot-Woot with fists pumps…..

Beer cups used as makeshift megaphones…definitely frowned upon…..

There are always some handsome Austrian male trainers who are great to watch walking away from you in those white dressage pants…but again…generally speaking…they’re watching other dressage trainers too…..

Teddy

A few days ago…my friend Ester picked me up and we went to a show together…..

…..we went with our chairs…and Ester’s well-stocked cooler…..

Once there…we met up with a number of old Hunt Club friends…apparently…quite a few are riding dressage these days…..

…..even our retired Foxhunting Master was there…not riding…just spectating & visiting…..

…Ester…Sapphire…Teddy…& Lola…

With such an assembled group…old stories inevitably bubbled to the surface…(along with Ester’s Prosecco and multiple bottles of champagne)…..

It always surprises me…how quickly glass flutes get dusted off with horse blankets…(but then again…I have four rolling around somewhere in my horse trailer too)…..

I’ll write about these “old stories” in a subsequent post…because there were just so many cool ones that were brought up and humorously re-lived…..

~~~~~~~But the day was about the Schooling Show~~~~~~~
My good friend Sapphire’s four year old (Teddy) had his baby-debut…..
…..he was wide-eyed…but well-behaved…..
Teddy
Everyone was glad that he had a positive experience………….(and that he didn’t jump out of the ring)…..
…..no one cared about his score…I don’t even know if it was ever even checked on…..
Dressage is so far above my pay-grade…..
…..I don’t understand the scoring…I don’t understand the lettering…it might represent something in German or Latin…(but it’s all Greek to me)…..
*****(This Might Help Explain Dressage)*****
Years ago…Ester and I met and became friends when she bought our first-born warmblood—Decoupage…..
She took Deco to Regionals at Second Level………….but don’t ask me what that means…..
…..(remember I’m only there for the corndogs)…..
However…in defense of Dressage…some of that stuff really does work(!?!)…..
A few years ago…Lola (another friend—who’s much further along in dressage)…told me that I could stop my horse…by just clenching my cheeks and pressing down in the stirrups with my heels(?)…..
…..And Damn if Violet didn’t stop!!!…..
…..Who Knew…..
Colin…another friend’s horse…took blue…
And here’s another non-equine oddity that occurred that day…..
A high-school-aged-ish competitor walked past and complimented me on my outfit(???)…..
Colin
…..(I was so confused)…..
…..of course I thanked her…..
…..but…still(?)…..
…..a sixty-nine year old’s fashion choice looked acceptable to a sixteen year old(?)…..
…..(what’s wrong with the world?)…..
When I got home…I mentioned the odd interaction to my older daughter…..
And she smiled and said…Mom…your wardrobe is all WhimsiGoth…..
……Whimsy-What?……
…(thought I’d include a selfie)…
*****(Better Homes & Garden’s take on WhimsiGoth)*****
…..Apparently—it’s old (vintage)—it’s hippie (retro)—and it’s dark (black is sliming)—with dusty shoulders on the hangers (because I don’t go out much)—and random holes (back to it being old)…..
Hmmmmmmm…..
~~~~~~~Whimsi-Goth~~~~~~~

I might like that…..

Teddy
