~~~~~~~2020~~~~~~~
Here we go……. It’s the start of a new one……. Ready or not……. The meat’s in the oven…….the collards are done…….I still have to make the pumpkin pies……. …….I have to flip the calendars……. …….oops, I have to buy the calendars……. …….(guess I dropped that spinning plate)……. …….(sweat the big ones, that’s not a big one)……. I’ll get used to writing 2020 somewhere around March… Enjoy the day with friends, family, or quietly/contentedly by yourself… Tra!  La!      …
I Think It’s Time To Do The Christmas Card…….(are we late?)
I Think It’s Time To Do The Christmas Card…….(are we late?)
Yep…..it’s that time….. I can feel it in the air….. It’s time to put pen to paper and scratch out our annual letter….. What? It’s Late…..you say!?!…….!?! Pshaw…….I say…! One year I sent them out at Easter….. …..and recently someone reminded me that I sent them out in the summer… Maybe I should aim for next year’s  Autumnal Equinox  for our 2020 photo…..? That’s an idea…!!!… But for this year……. …..we’ve picked out a compilation of eight photos….. Paulo doesn’t…
Winter Solstice
Winter Solstice
It gets dark at this time of year so quickly… It’s hard to get the outside chores done in the daylight. We’re still medicating Addy twice a day with 45 capsules dissolved in water each time… It’s hard enough trying to accomplish that in the full light of day, much less while she’s jiving and diving in the dark……. …..I don’t blame her…….it really tastes BAD! I’ve gotten that stuff in my hair…in my eyes…lots of it in my mouth…
The Holiday Sprint
The Holiday Sprint
Maybe the Holidays should be more accurately identified as a Sprint combined with a Marathon… Today for example: Wake up. Brush multiple cats off face. Feed cats; feed hounds; feed puppies; clean puppy kennels. Go outside (take multiple deep breaths to clear my head of the morning house-fumes). Feed chickens/turkeys/rabbits/goats/pigs…….and then the horses. Check on Poppy (who had decided to opportunistically break down the already dry-rotted fence posts yesterday…….and then gorge on a compressed alfalfa block…….and then subsequently colic…….). Yesterday…
Mission Accomplished ~~~Puppy Proofing The Christmas Tree
Mission Accomplished ~~~Puppy Proofing The Christmas Tree
We finally got the tree up AND we got it lit! It’s not pretty…….but it’s (fairly) puppy-proof… Let the games begin!                       Tra!  La! My younger daughter and I went to our special tree farm and picked out our tree…….(we’ve been going to the same Christmas Tree Farm since my girls were in diapers.)   ***Lazy Lay Acres Christmas Tree Farm*** …..Paulo gives us ceiling height measurements ahead of time.  We…
L-Tryptophan Is My Friend
L-Tryptophan Is My Friend
We pulled off another Thanksgiving Day dinner……. The kitchen sink is relatively clear of dirty dishes the morning after……. …..so that’s a win too……. …..and the left-overs…….are well…….left over……. …..so that’s also a win…….’cuz I ain’t cookin’…….                               ……I got to watch the Macy’s Day Parade…….I got to see the Radio City Rockettes, but NOT the Budweiser Clydesdales…….hmmmmmmmmmmmmm…….(?)… …..I didn’t see them in last year’s parade…
!!!Decoration Time!!!
!!!Decoration Time!!!
It’s that time of year when one seasonal home decoration immediately flows into the next holiday decor requirement. I love Holidays… I love all Holidays… I even considered celebrating November 17th………………..which for those of you who don’t know…………………is the anniversary of the patenting of barbed wire…….(duh!) (however, I personally don’t believe in barbed wire or it’s containment capabilities)……. …..I prefer electric fencing (with its painful yet educating joules) which can put you on your butt in a split second……. So,…
All Hallows Eve & All Saints Day
All Hallows Eve & All Saints Day
………….phew, this has been a super busy week and then some…………. Our Hunt Club Tea went well… People were well fed… Music blared.  (A huge industrial fan had to be enlisted (we have record breaking heat here in Florida for this time of the year.) I feel good when people not only eat the food I’ve made, but also take carrots for their horses along with a take home plate for later for themselves……. …..that means the food must’ve tasted…
