It was growing from the base of what remains of the beautiful old oak tree…the one we had to take down right after Hurricane Milton….. Boxing Day is always high up on my list of favorites….. Here in the U.S.A. it’s not really recognized as a Holiday…but…in Great Britain it certainly is….. And it’s a tradition that I like to wholeheartedly embrace….. Deadlines have been met (or swept under the rug or totally forgotten and/or ignored)….. Dinners have been made…presents have been wrapped and unwrapped…it’s a day…

I don’t know what it is about Florida’s damp cold…that seeps in and goes straight to your bones…and leaves you totally chilled & shivering for hours afterwards….. …..even with mittens…and hats…and blankets…and coats….. Thanks to Hurricane Milton (from last year)…we still have wood to burn…Lord Knows!…we still have lots and lots of wood to burn……..

*******Please Subscribe To My Blog…..It Really Helps******* Yesterday was the shortest day of the year….. …..the Winter Solstice….. It’s just about pitch black by 5:00pm every evening now….. Awhile ago we started this relaxed annual tradition of having a bonfire on the Winter Solstice….. …..and we’ve had one ever since…kind of on-again…off-again…but semi-planned…nonetheless….. It’s fun…it’s pleasant…it’s relaxing….. The Infamous Big Purple Cups are involved…along with mediocre bourbon and cheap wine coolers…(good hang-over material)….. …..junk food…S’mores…cookies….. …..you know…a healthy meal….. Weather-willing…lawn…

I’ve got a hankering to bake more….. Recently…..I got a huge (not the biggest I’ve seen) cast iron baking pan….. …..for making GIGANTIC cookies…..!!!….. There is one out there that is slightly bigger…(this one’s sixteen inches across)….. …..but I’m not sure I could lift it….. I figured that if bakeries can make super-gigantic cookies….. …..then I can too….. This big/round/cookie pan is super-dee-dooper heavy….. It requires a “Valsalva maneuver” (similar to a dead-lift in bodybuilding) to pick up that sucker……..
