Well…I got a lapel pin in the mail…..

I didn’t ask for it…..

It was a bit startling and a surprise…..

…..just when did THAT happen(?)…..

…..Fifty frigging years(!?!)…..

You gotta warn someone…before they unsuspectingly go to their mailbox and open up an unassuming envelope(!)…..

I guess it’s been that long…I suppose it would be easy enough to figure out with basic arithmetic…..

…..(I don’t want to)…(but that does explain a lot of the aging-stuff that I’ve been noticing)…..

But FIFTY(?)…XXXXX(?)…L(?)…Cincuenta(?)…Cinquante…Years(!?!)…..

…..It Couldn’t Be…..

But a little warning post card ahead of time would’ve been appreciated…..

…..I could’ve been left out on the road…passed out…until the mail lady came around the next day…..

…..Fifty friggin’ years(?)…..

…..(how’s that possible if I’m not a day over thirty-four(?)…oh—wait…I’m more than double that)…..

I had to go to the County Courthouse the other day…and I kept setting off their security alarm…(I’d forgotten about all my artificial joints)…..

They had me stripping off everything (and it was cold)…until my older daughter suggested (from the good side of the metal detector) that I tell them about my joints…..

…..(and that’s how old people get bad reputations about public nudity)…..

Given another five minutes of stripping…and I wouldn’t have had a lapel for my new “Fifty Years of Service” lapel pin…..

…..(I mean…I’d had the forethought to reluctantly leave my .38 at home)…(I’d left my purse in the truck—with it’s pocket knives and paring knives and forks and aggressive wine bottle openers)…..

I WAS Being Compliant…..

…..(but I do enjoy embarrassing my children…it’s getting easier the older I get)…..

Anyway…I digress…..

Apparently…I’ve been an Athletic Trainer for a very long time…enough to get a pin anyway…..
