~Imelda Update~

~Imelda Update~

*******Please Subscribe To My Blog…..It Really Helps******* I thought it only fair to give an update on Invest 94-L….. Here we are on the last day of September and Invest 94-L did become Tropical Storm Imelda….. I don’t think I’ve ever seen a team of storms running in tandem like Imelda and Hurricane Humberto….. At present they are staying off our eastern coastline…and they might just stay that way as they run North by NorthEast….. But it’s not a guarantee……..

~It’s Not Over…til~

*******Please Subscribe To My Blog…..It Really Helps******* …..that Fat Lady Sings…and she’s not singing yet….. It’s been a quiet hurricane season…so far….. It’s been too dry for a typical rainy season…(but who’s complaining?)….. However………………… At present…we had thought that Hurricane Gabrielle might be the last big threat…but…she’s now headed in a round about way towards Portugal(?)….. …..(hurricanes all have a mind of their own)….. And then………………… …..there is Invest 94-L (perhaps a future “Imelda”?) along with Invest 93-L (who became…

Rainy Season Worries

Rainy Season Worries

*******Please Subscribe To My Blog…..It Really Helps******* During the rainy season…Florida’s greenery grows over-night….. You can watch as its vines and leaves actually creep and crawl towards you….. If you hold still long enough….. …..the local flora will wrap up your body from ankles to nose…and turn you into a Disney topiary sculpture….. It’s a little scary….. We’re rapidly approaching “the height” (or nadir–depending on your perspective) of the 2025 Hurricane Season….. Theoretically…after September 10th…it’s supposed to be the downside…

Hurricane Season 2025…(sigh)

*******Please Subscribe To My Blog…..It Really Helps******* *****(Wikipedia: 2025 Atlantic Hurricane Season)***** *****(Mike’s Weather Page–Click On This Site For Great Information)***** It’s here again….. I know…it’s one of my repeat Blog topics….. This year’s Hurricane Season has already begun…June 1st…it began the month before last…and it won’t be over until November 30th….. …..but the worst of the season (for us here on the Gulf Coast)…things starts warming up real soon….. Of course…as always…I’m watching what’s coming off the west African…

*The Scorch Is Back*

*******Please Subscribe To My Blog…..It Really Helps******* Yes it is….. The Summer Heat is definitely here…on our soggy…steamy…mossy…moldy…dead end road in the Swamp….. I’m already counting the weeks until (semi) cooler weather….. I look forward to September…it’s the carrot I dangle to stay motivated and get through the Summer in Sunny Sub-Tropical Florida….. Autumn…ahhhhh…cooler weather…falling leaves…brisk air…like it’s really going to be any cooler in September………….because it’s not….. Somehow..I correlate September with Fall…but it’s still super-steamy even then…and our active…

~My Itty-Bitty New Best Friend~

**********Please Subscribe To My Blog…..It Really Helps********** I love my diminutive chainsaw….. It’s a wonderfully good thing….. It fills a necessity that was previously over-looked….. …..those necessary in-between limbs….. I’ve wanted something like this for a long time….. It’s for that kindling that’s too large for a limb lopper or to break with your hands or over your thigh….. It’s not for the big logs…where a large 2-cycle chainsaw is necessary to get the job done….. …..but it’s perfect for…

Pigs And Pens

Pigs And Pens

**********Please Subscribe To My Blog…..It Really Helps********** You’d think by now…we’d be caught up with the Hurricane Milton repairs….. But…you’d be wrong….. MaMa Pig is still in “her” stall in the barn…she’s been there since Milton rolled over us….. …..(and she’s not a good house guest)….. The horse stalls in the barn were never intended to house pigs….. …..but in recent years…that’s all they seem to have been used for….. Originally…I sloped the stall floor with red clay…then covered it…

Feeding For The Cold Weather

Feeding For The Cold Weather

**********Please Subscribe To My Blog…..It Really Helps********** Okay…so we’ve established that Floridians can really whine about cold weather….. It’s an art form…and we do it well….. But having said that…it’s Really Really cold outside right now….. It’s in the thirties….. Our cats are all lined up in front of the fireplace….. Where I have ample dry (green) wood to burn…I’ve run out of kindling…and what I’m dragging into the house is soggy from all the damp cold rain….. I’m getting…

~A Winter Solstice Tradition~

**********Please Subscribe To My Blog…..It Really Helps********** This last Saturday was the Winter Solstice….. …..the darkest day of the year for us….. We started and have continued a tradition of having a bonfire on the Solstice….. This year it was icy…(by Floridian standards)….. …..not compared to the weather that my relatives are having up in Northeastern Ohio….. But cold for us….. The bonfire was nice and toasty….. Good friends came over….. Food was brought and appreciated….. Beverages were available….. …..and…

*Continued Milton Clean-Up*

*Continued Milton Clean-Up*

**********Please Subscribe To My Blog…..It Really Helps********** Hurricane Milton blew out one of the walls of the chicken coop….. I felt bad for the old biddies…when we checked on the outside damage the next morning after Milton had passed….. …..and we saw them all sitting on their normal perches…but their fluffy backsides were exposed to the entire front yard….. We were able to keep them temporarily safe with some quickly nailed up wood scraps….. …..but a permanent fixed needed to…
