Most of our pigs have their own shaded areas…where they can repose out of the sun…literally with palm fond fans….. But recently all of the dead trees have been taken down…and it’s looking extra sunny out there….. We are at the cold end of the Down’s right now…and we are all over-reacting….. Last weekend brought a deluge of rain…if that same amount of rain (between 4″ and 7″) had occurred during the Hurricane Season…we would’ve slapped a name on it and called it a “Tropical-Something”….. Big horses…unruly foals…strategically placed falling limbs…obnoxious buck goats…(misdirected tractors)…and hurricanes….have all played their roles in the need for replacing farm gates….. Fence line changes have played their part in the addition of more gates…but honestly…it’s usually because a gate gets obliterated by some act of Nature….. …..(or a defiant draft horse)….. I can’t say as much about MaMa pig…(our feral sow)…she’s still super scary…and someone not to turn your back on….. But recently my older daughter left “the Boys” out to graze….. They have a nice fenced in piggy pasture now…not that they’re known for wandering around that much….. …..if you remember KuneKune pigs are not…

Our Mentor-For-All-Things-Pig…recommended that we keep Beau and Scott together in one pen(?)….. Beau has been with Clover for awhile…and apparently they’ve become “just good friends”….. Also…apparently…this happens with KuneKune pigs…when they are housed together….. They become non-procreating platonic buddies….. …..(who knew?)….. Where KuneKune’s are involved………….absence makes the heart grow fonder….. Our Porcine Mentor said…the boys have to be penned together….. …..because they can’t be…
**********Please Subscribe To My Blog…..It Really Helps********** Scott arrived this week….. We now have two KuneKune boars…Beau and Scott….. They know each other…they grew up together…they are both double registered…but from different lines….. Both boys had become “redundant” genetically at the woman’s farm–(who has become our “Porcine KuneKune Mentor”)….. She knows all things KuneKune….. Where it’s necessary for her to introduce new bloodlines into her pig production…it was hard (impossible) for her to send Scott off for “processing”…(to the butchers)……..

MaMa Pig is still in “her” stall in the barn…she’s been there since Milton rolled over us….. …..(and she’s not a good house guest)….. The horse stalls in the barn were never intended to house pigs….. …..but in recent years…that’s all they seem to have been used for…..
