Joint Check

Joint Check

Let’s cut to the skinny… All four artificial joints are still fine and in good order and stuck where they should be… …..and I don’t have to go back for another three years…….if everything stays copasetic…….(HA!) And that’s just great. But like I said…….I don’t like medical tests and appointments and the related-whatnots…   ~~~~~Here’s an example of what had to occur prior to today’s appointment~~~~~ …….mouths need feeding before anything else can occur on any given day……. …….no actually,…

Patrice & Me & Mud

Patrice & Me & Mud

I sit here after barn chores in wet over-alls… I should be showering and laundering off all of “this”… But what’s the point? It’s going to happen all over again when I go back outside later… I think Patrice & I will just flick off the chunky bits and wait for the “rest” to dry. What I mean by the “rest”…….can be defined as mud/poo/pee/sweat/more-mud/and tears……..maybe that should be a name for a rock group?………….oh, wait…….I think it’s already been…

Hunt Season Is Around The Corner

Hunt Season Is Around The Corner

Tra!  La! Soon…….the 2019/2020 Hunt Season will begin.   In fact, this coming weekend is our Annual Business Meeting.   It’s like the unofficial kick-off of the Hunt season. Even though it’s still beastly hot…….it’s good to know that fox hunting is just around the corner. Yippee!     Tra!  La!     Yahoo!     Zippity Cricket!     I’m Happy! I’m getting a jump on the season’s start by clipping and grooming Addy for the up-coming Hunts. Suzanne-Annette…

Oops…….I Did It Again

Oops…….I Did It Again

I love my tractor. It’s a wonderful machine.   It’s diminutive but mighty… My Mahindra diesel 2615-HST I suppose it could be bigger.   I’m sure I could do more damage if it were bigger.   Maybe it’s good that it’s not bigger. Recently, I made a little mistake while taking out a compressed alfalfa bale…(approx. 900 lbs.)   The bales that were delivered this month are extra big and extra heavy…….but that’s a good thing…   If I don’t…

Special Mud

Special Mud

The Tropical-Whatever did earn a name. He was named Alberto.  He blew through over Memorial Day Weekend. He wasn’t too bad for us here.  Just a couple of downpours with those typical, tropical counter-clockwise winds. I’ll have to see why so much of the water is flowing into the pig pen. They’re loving it, but it’s muddy soup in there. So much so, that when you feed them, and they get so excited awaiting their meal———-there’s a lot…

Bubble Bath Beauties

Bubble Bath Beauties

I have my work cut out for me.  I have two big mama’s who need bathing.  Actually, I have more than two…………but today………..it’s just these two. They need scrubbing and hosing and rinsing.  They are equine-examples of the phrase—–“Rinse, Lather and Repeat”—–a lot. I love their socks and feathers.  I don’t love their maintenance.  But alack alas.  It’s one of the perks & troubles of owning a “feathered” breed.  Clydesdales are so very unique and quirky and hairy.  They…

Swamp Summer

Swamp Summer

Apparently a named Tropical Storm (Emily) went over us a few days ago………………..But I missed it…………………. …………….well I didn’t actually miss it, I did notice it was raining……………a lot.  But it was just another wet day at the oasis.  It was gray, wet, muddy and boot-worthy………………….but not name-worthy(?)………………just a Monday. I did cancel with my home-nurse care who is still seeing me post-knee-replacement-surgery.  But we cancelled because she had new shoes and hadn’t put her boots in her car for…

Boot Sucking Mud

Boot Sucking Mud

It’s the time of year when the boots become the popular foot covering of choice.  During the drought they sit quietly neglected in the garage, collecting dust, getting kicked about where they are no longer matched pairs anymore, becoming dark homes for the whatevers that wander the garage when no one is out there. But now, they are so important.  It always takes a few trips with the errant braggadocio of…………..I can make it to the truck………..Or, no problem getting…
