Mission Accomplished ~~~Puppy Proofing The Christmas Tree

Last Year’s Christmas Tree Without Irish Wolfhound Puppies

We finally got the tree up AND we got it lit!

It’s not pretty…….but it’s (fairly) puppy-proof…

Let the games begin!                       Tra!  La!

My younger daughter and I went to our special tree farm and picked out our tree…….(we’ve been going to the same Christmas Tree Farm since my girls were in diapers.)

…..Paolo gives us ceiling height measurements ahead of time.  We usually don’t exceed them…….but that’s what chainsaws are for…

We also already know that our cats will scale the tree and perch on various opportune branches…

…..and we already know that the puppies will play tug-o-war with the lower branches…

…..and we also already know that breakable ornaments anywhere on the bottom one third of the tree…….will…………………break…

Sooooooooooooooo, we decorate defensively.

Anna Barricaded & Eyeing The Tree

We approach the holiday with a can-do-attitude…….and a defensive game plan…

NOTHING breakable or toxic or a choking hazard on the lower branches…

Do You Like The Mad Hatter’s Tree Topper?

Things can get prettier as you get higher…….breakable is, however, still inadvisable.

Only well-water in the reservoir…

String the lights from the top to the bottom…….so additional electric cords within puppy-milk-teeth-reach can be minimized…

…..and keep things out of leaping height.

Use a lot of garlands on the top two-thirds of the tree…….that way…….there aren’t that many, individually, dangly-desirable-things as attractants to passing critters…

And barricade…barricade…barricade…barricade…….

Princess Vicki & Belle Contemplating The Tree

…..do you think Martha Stewart would approve?…….

…..I think she probably would…….she has dogs & cats……..and more importantly…….she has staff…

AND VOILA———-the tree is complete…………..

………………………and my work here is done…….
