Porch Progress

*******Please Subscribe To My Blog…..It Really Helps******* CLICK HERE***Maybe This Link Will Get You To My Tick Tock Channel*** We’re still plodding along with the marathon-porch-renovation-project….. I’m hesitant to say…..it might be mostly done….. The outside’s finally been finished and stucco’d….. …..(but “they” painted it white when the rest of the exterior of the house is gray?)….. …..(not too noticeable…..?…..but what do I know?)….. …..the inside has finally been completed-ish….. I was told to pick paint colors and paint numbers……..

~~~Running In Mud~~~
*******Maybe This Link Will Get You To My Tick Tock Channel******* You know when you have a nightmare and you’re trying to run…..but you can’t because you’re knee-deep in mud…..? New Horizons/New Skills
New Horizons/New Skills
There are a lot of skills that I don’t have.  There are a lot of things that I don’t know how to do.  I have found that the acquisition of power-tools does not necessarily mean that you know how to use them.  I have also discovered that a number of “skilled” workmen have the same tools that I do and don’t know how to use them either………………………(tools & corresponding skills are not gender-appointed).              …
Swamp Summer
Swamp Summer
Apparently a named Tropical Storm (Emily) went over us a few days ago………………..But I missed it…………………. …………….well I didn’t actually miss it, I did notice it was raining……………a lot.  But it was just another wet day at the oasis.  It was gray, wet, muddy and boot-worthy………………….but not name-worthy(?)………………just a Monday. I did cancel with my home-nurse care who is still seeing me post-knee-replacement-surgery.  But we cancelled because she had new shoes and hadn’t put her boots in her car for…
New Septic~~~Days #5, #6, #7, #8
Surprise, it’s raining.  It’s been raining, and raining, and raining……….It’s summer in Florida, of course it’s raining. We have been lucky so far this “season”.  There have been two Tropical Storms already, and they have gone elsewhere.  But with our luck that means others have had bad luck.  You end up feeling thankful and guilty at the same time.  And it’s still June.  It’s Kismet and Mother Nature doing a waltz.  I’m just tapping my foot and snapping my fingers…
Fixer-Upper & My Bane~~~#1
Fixer-Upper & My Bane~~~#1
This house was a sad fixer-upper when we bought it.  I’m sad to say, it’s still a sad fixer-upper.  I’ve also discovered I’m excessively ADD.  I’m so old I was never diagnosed years ago in school.  That diagnosis didn’t exist back in the Neolithic Age when I was going to school.  I was just that kid to keep busy and out of trouble and hopefully out of mind…………nice try.  But I’ve seen my ADD in action with this house, now…
New Septic~~~Day #2, #3, #4
The nice septic people haven’t come back since Day #1. We have the large cement thingie in the ground in an exposed gigantic hole in the front yard.  Is that a good sign? Should we start to worry yet? Maybe Day #5’s the charm? We wait with abated breath………
Weekend Permitting in the Boonies
Weekend Permitting in the Boonies
Fond (?) memories have been rushing back to me of the variety of stop-gap attempts that we have made over the years to have the aforementioned defunct septic last longer. More than ten years ago we had a series of Tropical Storms and a weak, down-grading Hurricane  who came directly over us.  Lots and lots of wind and rain.  Rain———-the horizontal type.  It eventually found its way to the ground where it saturated everything and elevated the water level to…
Sea Level vs. the New Septic—–Day #1
Sea Level vs. the New Septic—–Day #1
Day #1———Gravity.  It’s a genuine force.  It’s reliable.  Lord knows I know that from horseback riding and how much the ground beckons me.  And how it comes up to greet me so rapidly.  Gravity plays a role in our everyday lives.  It’s there when we want it.  It’s there when we don’t.  It’s there when we don’t even think about it.  It makes things roll down hill. We bought this house as a fixer-upper almost 25 years ago.  I’m sad…
