Spider’s Web Under Glass

I’ve wanted one of these for a number of years.
The mirrored plate arrived awhile ago and it is beautiful.
The spider’s web is gorgeously well-preserved under glass with a black background.
*****Check Out How It’s Done*****
What amazes me is that spiders can spin their webs with such precision and perfection……………………..how do they know when to cross over and how far apart to make each row?

As pretty as they are…………..I do, however, hate face-planting into one while I’m out riding.

Plus having a penchant for riding tall horses, I get more than my share of face-plants.

Even if I’m way back in the line-up, on a tall horse, you always have a pristine web just waiting for you.

But if I have fair warning and can observe and admire them without wearing them, then it’s pretty cool.

This web was made/woven by a stilt spider (Tetragnatha Elongata) in New Jersey.
Locally we have a variety of spiders and their webs.

I am concerned for a recent decline and lack of golden orb spiders and their corresponding web homes.
When we first moved out here over twenty-five years ago, there were a lot of big, yellow webs from lots & lots of golden orb spiders………….but not so much anymore.

Their webs could easily be over three foot tall and wide.
There is a yellow, almost pollen-colored coating on them.
And they are sticky.
Pulling them off of your face or out of your hair is a lot like pulling off tiny strands of bubble gum.

With the Golden Orb spider, the big one that you focus on first is the female.
If you look closer, the female is usually sharing her big web with several smaller male spiders.
You can over-look the males fairly easily………..but the female is hard to miss…………………….she’s like a mini-tank with eight, steam-punk-hinged legs.
*****Better Info on Golden Orb Spiders*****
I don’t know what they do with their webs, but they are a challenge to unwrap once you’ve worn one.

You could floss your teeth with that stuff…………….
But back to my spider’s web plaque………………………

……………………..pretty, isn’t it?
