It’s a fun/local Agro-Festival celebrating the fruit…(it’s quite the local industry)….. I like the name………….Kumquat…………. Say that five times fast….. I might add it to my list of fun words I like saying…(I like umlaut too)….. …..(Iditarod…Saponification…Onomatopoeia…and Nixtamalization)….. I think I’ll add Kumquat on a trial basis….. A fellow dinosaur…and Athletic Trainer friend of mine dropped by for some eggs over the weekend……..

  Tarpon Springs is very close to here.  There is a large Greek community with a lot of fishermen.  In specific, sponge fishermen/divers.  A big percentage of the population of Tarpon Springs are of the Greek Orthodox faith. Annually around the Twelfth Day of Christmas there is the blessing of the fleet at the Sponge Docks, as well as diving for the crucifix which is thrown into Spring Bayou.  I think this is the 111th. year of the celebration.
