Even when we’re not Fox Hunting…the foxhounds need exercising as a pack…..

Throughout the off-season…the hounds are taken on walks by our Huntsman (Devana)…..

…..our Huntsman and the Staff of Whipper-Ins are on foot with the pack of hounds…they all work together…..

As the off-season progresses…the walks on foot graduate to mounted hound walks…..

…..new members are exposed to a relaxed atmosphere with the hounds and staff and horses…..

…..new hounds learn the ropes alongside the rest of the mature/working pack…as well as…working with the veteran hounds…..

A recent mounted hound walk had to be cancelled…not through any fault of the hounds or horses…..

…..but Mother Nature got involved…..

…..not with a dramatic storm (Thank God)…but with incessant/hard afternoon rains…..

…..and the mud…lots & lots of mud…..

Again…the hounds and horses and riders and staff are all fine with inclement weather…..

…..(rumor has it that years ago one of our Hunts actually was during a Hurricane Warning)…..

…..(I stayed home)…..

…..(***What’s The Difference Between A Hurricane Watch And A Warning?***)…..

…..(rumor has it too…that because of the winds…the trees on that fixture can still be seen growing at odd angles)…..

…..!!!Are Fox Hunters Committed and Crazy!?!………….You Bet ‘Cha!!!…..

However…back to the recent/cancelled mounted hound walk…..

…..Mother Nature stepped in…not with a hurricane…but with deep mud…..

…..the hunt horses are just fine with the mud…..

…..but the potential of mired trucks…and horse trailers…and torn up cattle pastures & access roads…those are high on the list…..

We are right in the middle of the 2022 Hurricane Season (ssshhhhhhh)…..

…..we haven’t had any bad storms yet…but…we’ve had a lot of rain…..

…..(remember my fireplace’s chimney cap that needs replacement…?…it’s still getting the floor soggy in our den)…..

Cubbing Season starts on October 1st…..

…..Keep Your Eyes On The Skies…..

…..(maybe we’ll squeak through this Hurricane Season unnoticed)……
