***A Florida Cold Front*****

We had an incredible weather-line come through yesterday morning…..

There were tornado warnings all along the west coast of Florida…..

We knew it was coming…every radar showed it sweeping our way from left to right across the country…..

There were some very dramatic weather changes that were forecasted…from what was in front of the “front”…compared to what came behind it…..

Our biggest worry was that we had to leave the house in the morning and drive quite a distance from north to south (while hopefully skirting the front) to reach my doctor’s office for my post-surgery appointment…..

…..I didn’t want to miss the appointment…but I also didn’t want to put my daughters and myself in harms way…..

Between my older daughter and myself…we plotted the front’s marching radar approach…along with the direction/distance/& timing that we had to drive…..

…..we figured if we left early…we could get out just in front of it…and stay ahead…all the way to South Tampa…where my doctor’s office was located…..

And that’s what we did…..

We were driving in the Dually…it’s a very heavy truck…with a lot of road contact…..

The biggest problems on the road were the wind and (multiple) drivers hauling bumper-pull trailers…..

…..there was a lot of fish-tailing…and lane changing…..

But my daughter’s a very good driver…with good reactions…..

She learned to drive using her own truck with its stick shift (and “big” truck clutch)…so she can drive just about anything…..

…..she got us to the doctor’s appointment early/safely parked/& out of the wind & rain…..

By the time I was finished…the severe weather advisories had blown over…and the tornado warnings were taken down…..

On the drive home…everything was quiet…we passed a telephone pole that was completely twisted out of the ground with the wires looping to the ground…we also heard of at least one tornado that touched down in St. Petersburg…..

We were worried about what we’d find when we got home…..

…..but other than excessive flooding (covering the entirety of the front yard and pastures)…we seemed okay…..

…the front yard & driveway…

Claire…and Anja…and Brave were wet…but quietly/sleepily munching on the alfalfa bales…..

…..the Runner Ducks…were having a blast…..

…earlier flooding…

Phew…I didn’t think we’d fit it all in…but we managed…..

…..timing is everything…..
