October weather…..

…..ahhhhh……

It’s been so hot…but we’ve finally had our first “cold front” putter through…..

…..this morning…in the gray of the early dawn…there’s a heavy mist in the back pasture…..

You can almost hear everyone & everything…breath a sigh of relief…..

…..from sunburns to goosebumps…that’s Florida’s weather…..

I’m so grateful for that chill right now…..

I love how the mist rolls in…it has a sentience to it…..

…..the whole world is muffled…..

…..it’s not a pogonip (yet)…but maybe we’ll get there…(unlikely)…..

Surprisingly…my older daughter and her oldest friend went to the beach again yesterday…..

The “Front” had already started to wobble this way…..

…..they went with flannel shirts (Florida’s version of winter wear)…over their bathing suits…..

They didn’t go to our “regular” beach…but apparently there were still a lot of beach-goers…even with no sun…..

Neither one of them has finished peeling from their last beach excursion…..

…..but this trip was a little safer…what with no sun and flannel shirt coverings…..

I don’t think either one went in the water…but I bet the water was warmer than the air…..

…..staying dry was probably a good choice…cuz there was a wind whipping up the sand…and they would’ve been “frosted” with sand if they’d gotten wet…..

Living in fairly close proximity to the Gulf of Mexico…makes impromptu trips easy…..

…..you don’t have to wait for the perfect time of year…..

The circadian rhythm of the waves and tides is always there…the ambient salt is too…no matter what the air temperature happens to be…..

But a word of caution…..

In the colder months…the sea gulls get rabidly voracious with their dive-bombing habits…..

I guess it’s because there are less people to terrorize and steal French fries from…(from whom to steal French fries?)…(I don’t think the gulls care about dangling prepositions)…..

…..but those birds can easily take off your bottom lip in lieu of a fry…they get that aggressive…..

The good news is…the weather’s (temporarily) cooler…the girls aren’t badly burned (again)…and a day of soothing earth-energy was enjoyed…..

…..but the sea gulls still aren’t happy…..
