The real reason for my last post was to expound upon my new formal Hunt boots!!!

…..(and I forgot to mention them!)…..

I’ve waited for decades for a pair of my very own (new) formal boots…..

…..(with zippers)…..

…..And Finally!!!…..

Fox Hunting has a variety of traditions to adhere to during the Season…..

…..from Cubbing Season through Formal Hunt Season…..

…..which are separated by the Opening Hunt Meet…..

Prior to the Opening Hunt…..wearing field boots is acceptable…..

…..from Opening Hunt Meet onwards…..formal hunt boots are the correct foot attire…..

…..(but I’ve never owned a pair…until now)…..

I HAVE MY VERY OWN FORMAL HUNT BOOTS NOW!!!

…..(I know I’m old…..that’s why I bought them a little too big so I can pass them down to my older daughter…..(who is closest to my boot-size)…..

…..(it’s important to think ahead)…..

Here are the quick “crib notes” about boot differences…..

*****Boot Differences Explained*****

Field Boots…have laces in the front…and pretty/little leather-tooling around the toes…..

Formal Boots…are smooth with no adornments except for the patent-leather tops (for women) and maroon/burgundy leather tops (for men)…..

…………………………….but don’t ask me why…………………………….

*****Boot Rules & Lots Of Other Stuff*****

So much of fox hunting and dressage has its roots in the military…..

Apparently field boots are for more active/military/cavalry-riding…..

…..but I haven’t been able to find why formal boots have patent leather tops for women…..

…..except maybe because it just looks pretty for the ladies…..

So finally…..I’ve got my very own pair…..and I’ve already willed them to my daughter…..

I had to get another pair of field boots too…..(the soles fell off my old ones)…..

Now…..”all” I have to do is rediscover my strength & energy & wherewithal…..

…..then Addy and I will be back in the Hunt Field…..(in the back of the last Flight)…..
