You can call me a purist…..or you can call be a stubborn dinosaur…..

I’ve always been the pull-on/boot-type of devotee…..

…..the whole puce-faced/straining/pull-on/riding-boot aficionado…..

…..you know those boots…..

…..the ones you have to drag on after scooping up the hidden loops with your handy-dandy boot-hook…..

The same boots you have to peel-off…..hours later…..after your legs and ankles are puffy & swollen & rubbed raw…..

Remember when you had to stand on top of a boot jack…..while ramming it onto the heel of your other boot?…..

…..(zippered boots are just a trend, I said)…..(a silly fad)…..

…..(they will never catch on)…..

…..(but…..shhhhhhh…..I have to admit…..the zipper-thing is easier)…..

…..(I did have to learn how to fold some of the fatty-bits at the back of my knees inside the zippers…..so they wouldn’t get pinched)…..

…..(shhhhhhh, Pascal…..don’t tell anybody that one either)…..

…..BUT…..here’s a plus…..

…..I don’t feel my artificial joints opening-up and snapping-shut with the effort it takes to pry the boots off my edemic/swollen legs while balancing on a boot jack…..

…..BUT…..

…..(I’m sure it’s just a fad)…..

I think zippered boots have been around awhile now…..

…..maybe that’s why I can always find good/used field boots on Ebay for remarkably/reasonable prices…..(?)…..

…..the price is right…..

…..but they are uncomfortable (agonizing) as hell…..

…..after a little while (never) I’d break them in and establish my own wrinkles in the pre-worn leather…..

…..they eventually fit to my legs…..(ha!)…..

…..(good thing I rarely have my leg well-and-truly “on” my horse)…..

…..(otherwise those used boots would be total torture)…..

Pascal…..sometimes I wonder why my Hunt Club lets me joins year after year…..

…..I ride a hairy work horse in used/wrinkled boots in the back of the Field…..

…..but wait…..

…..I am a good cook…..and I pride myself on my hosted Tea’s…..

…..PLUS…..I always have the allure of a variety of flasks in my various pockets and saddle bags…..

…..so there’s that…..
