First of all…..let me say…..You Don’t Hurt The Mama!…..(never a good choice)…..

Finley’s at a normal stage of development…..

I’d put him somewhere between a 7th and a 9th grade/adolescent boy…..

He’s testing his wings…..checking his boundaries…..

…..he’s got a bit of a “tood” (attitude)…..

My older daughter has been working with him regularly…..

She’s gotten him to behave while wearing his halter…..

…..he’s good at being led now…..

…..he’s good at being fly-sprayed…..he’s good taking a bath too…..

…..he’ll probably be good loading into a horse trailer…..

…..(it’s just too hot out there to try)…..

……………………………………BUT……………………………………

Finley hasn’t learned to wait patiently…..especially when you’re carrying a full bucket of food….

…..(and I “might” have been a little late delivering his meal)…..

…..(Finley…apparently…is a stickler for punctuality)…..

So he decided to get pushy…..

…..and give me a shoulder-shot while I was pouring his food into the feed pan…..

…..I “may have” smacked him with his empty bucket…..

…..but he CERTAINLY whirled and wailed-off a double-barreled kick…..

I wasn’t ready…..or in a good position…..or expecting it…..

……………………………..my fault/my bad……………………………..

Finley landed a bullseye on my stomach…..

…..and the other hoof left a welted-furrow off my right side…..

Geez!  Louise!…..it knocked my bifocals right off my head…..!

…..I stayed standing (somehow)…..

…..but I ended up about five feet back…..

I took Finley’s food away immediately…..

…..why reward the snarky-dude for his bad behavior…..?

I’m going to let my older daughter handle his residual-behavior and the aftermath……

…..because right now…..I’m not in the mood for horse-whispering…..

…..I don’t got no photos…..

…..it wasn’t a kodachrome-kind-of-a-moment…..

I probably shouldn’t work with Finley anytime soon…..

I’m not in a “kumbaya-kind-of-a-mood” either…..

…..(I’m in more of a 2″ x 4″ kind-of-a-mood)…..

…..I need to take deep breaths…..lots of deep breaths…..

…..(I’d be able to take deeper breaths, if I hadn’t been kicked in the stomach)…..
