It bears repeating………….Appropriate Footwear…..

It’s an important necessity of life…..

…..especially in a rural setting…..

It’s certainly not the stylish stuff that’s displayed on pretty mannequins…..

I’m not talking about voluntary/recreational hiking apparel either…..

I’m talking about #@$%$#-kickers…and mud sloggers…and boot wear that allows you to survive the elements in relative dryness & safety…..

Walmart “Wellies” are a mainstay…..

Water-proof is a must…and steel-toed is necessary sometimes…height and durability is right up there for consideration…(depending on the pig sty…the submerged pasture…or the swamp you’re traversing)…..

I suppose comfort should factor in…but here in swampy Florida…water-proof leads the charge…..

Our required footwear is always the equipment that’s pictured in the bottom corner newsprint ad for places like Rural King or Tractor Supply…..

And those places get pricey too………….(I mean…we’re not talking Milan runway stilettos!)…..

Believe you/me…some of the age-old outdoor wear is totally beyond my budget…..

I’m not intending to look trendy at a cappuccino cafe in tweeds and duck boots…..

…..but good footwear is absolutely necessary here in winter (along with multiple flannel shirts)…..

Florida winters are cold and wet………….(they don’t last long)………….but they’re cold and wet…..

So…I visit eBay………….it’s equivalent to mall shopping for me…..

…..and again with the “gently used” agenda…I don’t care…I’m not proud…if it’s got good tread and doesn’t leak…I’m in…..

…..(a little anti-fungal spray…and the used footwear is good-to-go)…..

I’m excited to say…my daughters and I now have real (used) Duck boots…the five-eyelet kind…..

…..(and yes…I give used-shoes for Christmas)…..

Our footwear for the rest of the year are Sloggers (again…new are too $$$…used is acceptable)…..

…..and eBay comes to the rescue again…..

…..(who sells their own used shoes???…I don’t…I buy them)…..

We have our outside shoes and our inside shoes…and boot scrapers at almost every ingress & egress…..

I gave up on wall-to-carpet a long time ago…everything inside is tiled…wash-able…bleach-able…and scrub-able…..

I love the country…it’s beautiful…..

It’s serene…..

It’s peaceful…..

It has manure-bombs that are big enough to put an economy car into a skid…..

…..(hence…appropriate footwear is a must)…..
