Our new little boy arrived this week…..

He came from Louisiana…a little Cajun bébé…..

He came with his name already picked by the breeder…(that’s a first for us)…..

…..they listed his name on his AKC papers as “Acacias”…..

…..the Acacia is a tree…the litter owners said…it’s a strong tree…..

We had other plans for his name…but…oh well…you roll with the punches…Acacias it is then…..

…..(fyi…we let owners of our puppies pick their own names)…(and…as a result…there are a lot of “Patricks” out there)…..

…..(I’d rather Acacias over another Patrick)…..

Even though he’s listed on his AKC papers as being black…(as with most Irish Wolfhounds…he’ll probably change his shades a few times in his life)…he’s already got some graying in his undercoat & on his muzzle…..

We don’t care…he’s a cutie…and he’s already fitting right in…..

Besides…there’s an old wives’ tale that says to avoid a solid black Irish Wolfhound…..

…..so a little gray is fine with me…(I’ve always taken stock in old wives’ tales…those stories got their start somewhere)…..

Irish Wolfhounds almost always get along with other Irish Wolfhounds…they recognize their own…..

…..they usually get along with most other dogs too…as long as the other dogs are nice in return…..

So it wasn’t a big surprise when everyone greeted the new kid…happily…thoroughly…& with noses snuffling everywhere…..

…..he was flipped on his back immediately & completely checked over…..

…..TSA’s got nothin’ over our Wolfhounds…..

Our poor little pup had NO secrets left after the mob was done with him…..

He was soggy…his fur was spiked with drool…he was a little dazed…but happy…..

He stayed on his back in submission for awhile…until everyone was done snorgling him…..

Our veteran mom’s have adopted him as their pseudo-baby-responibility…..

Our house cats…on the other hand…are overly-secure in their household-pecking-order…..

Several of them (Copernicus & Prosecco…I’m talking about you) are in-your-face pets…..

They were the most investigative and pushy…but then they both like rough-housing with all the dogs…..

…..they already have a sparring schedule with Danny…which only ends when one of them squeaks…..

I’m sure Acacias will fit right into their boxing program…until he lands a good nip with his milk teeth…..

I would expect they’ll loose interest in him then…..

So…Acacias is here…and home to stay…..

He’s so fluffy…I’m a little worried he might actually be an Irish Newfoundland or maybe a Wolf-Doodle…..
