A Trip Out West

My older daughter recently had a trip out West…..

~~~~~Arizona~~~~~

I think prepositions make the world turn…..out West…..down South…..up North…..back East…..

Where I have traveled excessively…..especially with the Women’s Tennis Tour….my daughter has been a home-body…..

…..well…..she did fly to Atlanta once…..

…..and there was that road-trip to Kentucky to the Percheron breeder…..

…..she saw the Ohio River…..and a snowflake…..

…..that counts as well-traveled…..right…..?

So this Arizona trip was a big deal…..and a long plane flight…..(for her)…..

She even changed planes in Texas…..

My daughter’s grown up with a limited-palette of colors…..

…..swamp-green…lighter swamp-green…darker swamp-green…..

…..moss-green…lighter moss-green…darker moss-green…..(you get the idea)…..

Plus…..Florida is flat…..

…..it’s really just a glorified sandbar…..

So the kid had a real eye-opener out West…..!…..

…..there were mountains!…..big/tall/protruding rocks out of the ground…..!…..

…..and dry/dry…..dryness…..

When we spoke…..I asked if she was thirsty all the time…..(she said she was)…..

She and her friends (the locals) went to Las Vegas for a Renaissance Festival…..(she saw Fremont Street)…..

…..played a lot of Dungeons & Dragons…..she had Del Taco for breakfast…..(but no breakfast burritos?)…..

…..went to gaming shops(?)…..and bought cards(?)…..(cards?)…..

…..bought and found rocks (a peach aventurine in a parking lot?)…..(apache tears…..pecos diamonds)…..

…..she painted D&D miniatures…..(?)…..

What can I say…..everybody’s idea of a good time is different…..(?)…..

I asked her if she could buy a Las Vegas feathery-head-dress for me…..they aren’t for sale apparently…..

You know…..I love my daughter to pieces…..

…..but it boggles the mind that two jocks could produce a succinct/thorough nerd…..(?)…..

She even flies across the country to exercise her nerd-ish-ness?

But to each her own…..

…..on her return trip…..she flew into Miami…..and then did a quick up & down flight into Tampa…..

…..a traveler (from Arizona) next to her looked out the window and said everything was soooooo green…..

…..she asked what all the green land was in the middle of the state…..

…..my daughter said it wasn’t land…..it was all algae/moss/alligators/& swamp…..

…..the Everglades…..

There’s No Place Like Home…..
