Elsa should be past us…..

She could have been a lot bigger…..

…..about 12mph-ish…..

…..right over us…..

We can/should be grateful for that…..

…..it could have been so much worse…..

…..we were lucky…..

…..but the worry never lessens…..there’s always worry…..

We’re at the waiting stage now…..

…..that stage where you don’t know if you’ve prepared enough…..or…..

…..prepared too much…..

…..(you wouldn’t think that would be a possibility, would you?)…..

…..(but you can get snickers from the least expected people if you do)…..

…..so you want to prepare the “right amount” given the direction…the speed…and the intensity…..of whatever is heading your way…..

But there is a universal-constant to all of these storms…..

…..they all entail mud…..and humid/humid/drippy/humid…..heat…..

We got the baby pigs safely into a horse stall last night…..

…..yes…..you heard that right…..

…..baby pigs…..

…..again…..

…..(you see when Ralph came and fixed the pig sty…..he thought he’d do us a favor by putting all of the pigs into one pen)…..(no matter what gender)…..

…..AND…..

…..I don’t want to talk about it…..

…..we have halters on all of the horses…..except…..for dumb-assed Brave…..

…..he rubbed his off on a tree a few days ago…..

…..I just haven’t had time to “do the dance” to get it back on him again…..

…..but if we have to move the horses…..he’ll follow the girls wherever we lead them…..

There are the dead limbs laying around the back yard to worry about…..

…..they were never completely cleaned up after the last storm…..

…..being a seasoned-Floridian…..you look at everything as flying-projectile-potential…..

Last week I bush-hogged most of the high weeds in the back…..

…..that will make snakes (and other undesirable-high-water-critters) more visible…..

…..(except I couldn’t mow where all the dead limbs are)…..

…..(so that’s problematic)…..

Plus the tractor’s PTO stabilizer arms are bent…..and need replacing…..

…..which makes the bush hog swing the PTO into the tires…..

…..i.e…..the tractor’s not working up to par…..(hope we don’t need it)…..

…..there had to be a last minute purchase of a battery charger (which broke last summer)…..

…..we needed a new one to charge the battery on the electric generator…..

…..and then you just wait…..and wait…..

…..to see what Mother Nature decides to push your way…..

Hurricane Elsa isn’t due to hit until after dark…..

…..I HATE WHEN STORMS HIT AFTER DARK!…..

…..YOU CAN’T SEE ANYTHING!…..

…..I REALLY HATE THAT!…..
