Tunes on Vinyl

I love music.

I love music of any sort.

I don’t have a genre or a type.

I don’t remember titles.

I can’t identify groups.

I like how something sounds.  And with the way my memory is working these days———-it’s always new to me…

I have a CD of monks throat-singing/chanting while playing drum skulls.  I like that too.  I think they’re called the Gyuto Monks……………….I fondly refer to them as my Guido Monks.

And then I’ve got this great CD of a Scottish ensemble I recently listened to at a Renaissance Festival…………….

“The Freestylers of Piping”

They really hammer away on traditional celtic instruments and bagpipes while making them rock in a contemporary ilk.

I love Irish Bodhran music with spoons.

I Couldn’t Find Musical Spoons……This Is The Best I Could Get.

I like to sit on the living room floor with the Irish Wolfhounds and listen (and ~~~~groove~~~~) to an assortment of tunes.

The Wolfhounds actually freaked out with my Guido Monks………………the hounds were VERY concerned.

But conversely, they liked the bagpipes.

And there’s just no one who doesn’t like Carlos Nakai……………..(Double negatives can be very positive at times.)

Let’s not forget “Grunt—–Pigorian Chant”.  You just can’t miss out on that one!  It’s a real toe-tapper.

Just yesterday I heard a great (excuse me, I have to go check on the cats——-they are plotting a feline-world-domination-schematic………yet again………….)

(Yep, I was right.  The fuzzy little jerks.  It had to do with the runner on the dining room table being used as a garrote on the Wolfhounds.)

…………..I need tea.

………………..where was I?………………..

Just yesterday I heard a great song on the radio, by some group with a combination of initials for a name and a cello lead-in………………(research time)………………..okay, it’s by ARJ and it’s called “Sober Up”……………….hmmmm.

Anyway, I really liked it.

HA!  Here’s this old broad talking about contemporary/modern rock!!!  I’m surprised I didn’t use descriptive adjectives like: groovy, cool-man, or far out……………………

Hey, I can still like music.

I miss Amy Winehouse.

And there’s another cool (and groovy) group I’ve heard named, “Panic! At The Disco”.  The ditty I like is:  “Don’t Threaten Me With A Good Time…” (a.k.a. “Champagne, Cocaine, & Gasoline”).  Catchy……….huh?

And who doesn’t like Pachelbel’s Canon in D Major?  Or any Major?  And who knew Pachelbel was spelled that way?  Spell-Check didn’t  even get it right…………(?)

Our turn-table sighed and died a little while ago.

That was the day the music died………………sorry Don………………I just had to.

But really, who can expect a stylus to motor through and play around our mounds of dust-kitties?

So, all of our accumulated vinyl discs were rendered quiet and obsolete………………

Not any more, though!

My significant other gave me a retro-Victorian-looking/pretty wooden/FM radio/turn-table/cd & cassette player ensemble.

Retro music console for retro people.

That seems appropriate, doesn’t it?

It’s got a lid and a cover. Dust covers take on entire new meanings and necessity here.  I hate having to peel up a cat’s dried hair-ball off of a record before I can play it again…

The console is really pretty and I am happy to hear music from our old LP’s in the house again.

Along with the retro/vintage music machine, we are dusting off Kris Kristofferson (Hey, Kris—–Jesus was probably not a Capricorn.  He was probably a Leo.), Cat Stevens (before Yusuf), Fleetwood Mac (before rehab), and the Beatles (before Yoko).

It’s great.

I wonder if Panic at the Disco music comes on an LP?
