Like I said earlier…..I raised my two daughters like they were puppies…..

To this day…..I refer to them as my smooth-coated terriers…..

…..(those of you who have had terriers know what I mean)…..

…..(terriers are only different from us because of their lack of opposable-thumbs)…..

…..(they’re smarter than a lot of people I’ve met)…..

I think my kiddos turned out pretty okay…..

I didn’t resort to books or guru advice on raising my little humans…..

I applied farm-logic…..

…..yes, I did…..

Feed them good/simple food…..keep them moderately clean…..

…..and keep them busy…..and outside as much as possible…..

As babies…..I had them both in cotton diapers…..

…..yes I did…..

At the very beginning…..I had a diaper-service (the last one in town)…..

…..but that went the way of the do-do…..

…..(or was it doo-doo)-(HA!)…..

…..(could you imagine that job?)…..

…..(picking up someone else’s week-old/percolated/poopie-diapers?)…..

After that…..it was just me…..and the toilet bowl…..and the scrubbing swirlies…..

Really…..life does revolve around what goes in and what goes out…..

It’s a simple truth…..

Hey…..everybody poops…..(if we’re lucky)…..

…..(think of the worry if we didn’t!)…..

Some would say I employed fringe/parenting…..

…..with a resulting lifetime of follow-up therapy for us all…..

I don’t know yet…..time will tell…..but so far so good—ish…..

I was in my forties with two little humans in diapers…..

That’s when I originally got dairy goats…..

I didn’t want my children being the generational study of the effects of the newly/FDA approved injections for cows to increase their milk production…..

DON’T GET ME STARTED ON MY MONSANTO-RANT!

…..so I started milking goats…..and making cheese…..and soap…..

…..I got chickens for a real free-range flock of egg-producers…..

…..along with meat rabbits…..and a lot of goat curry…..

…..(unfortunately…..the tilapia fish project…..is still an imagined project…..and not a reality yet)…..

…..(but I’ve got the IBC totes & the PVC & the pump)…..

…..(I’m just not ready to put my hands on wiring a water-filled/electrical project quite yet)…..

…..(that’s just GOT to be in the same category along with the forbidden cutting wheel on the angle grinder and my irresponsibility with SuperGlue)…..

My babies are in their twenties now…..(with few visible scars)…..

They got there by eating healthy(ish)…..being outdoors…..and in the dirt…..and having chores…..

They got their MoonPies…..I got my mediocre Bourbon…..

…..and I didn’t clicker-train or litter-train either one of them…..
