Terriers come in many shapes & sizes…big & small…fuzzy or sleek…..

The one consistency…is that they are all neurotic…neurotic with a fixated-purpose…but neurotic non-the-less…..

…..all teeth…emotionally sensitive…too much brain-power…and far too driven by impulsive behaviors…..

…..as a breed-type…I’m surprised they’ve survived…..

…..they’re their own worst enemy…..

Like I’ve already said…I grew up with Airedale terriers…..

They were my nannies…my confidantes…my teachers…my friends…..

I learned a lot of what I know today…from multiple family Airedales…..

But for pet-friends…I’ve gravitated towards hounds…..

Terriers repeatedly out-smart me…it gets depressing…and they don’t like being called a “pet”…..

I tend towards hound attitudes…I’m lazy at heart…and living in Florida…I’ve adopted a mañana attitude…..

…..it’s always better to take a nap…not get over-heated…and not rush head first into anything…..

But…my older daughter loves Jack Russells…..

…..Drogo…..

…..The Drogo-nator…Drogo-licious…Drogo-dumpling…..

…..we got him from Mary Constance…she understands terriers…..

With Jack Russells…(like ANY Terrier)…you have to try to stay one-step-ahead…..

If left to his own devices…Drogo will throw himself into the swamp…never to be seen again…..

or he’ll gorge on semi-plucked chickens…and/or armadillo-poo…..

Jack Russell Terriers are known to…climb trees…squeeze into under-sized holes…have much stronger than anticipated PSI-bites…and run far faster than imaginable with such short/stubby legs…..

Doctor Russell (one of our vets) loves Jack Russells…he understands them (which is scary in itself)…he says that after the apocalypse…the only thing left will be cockroaches and Jack Russells…..

I had to include some photos of the results from Drogo’s recent activities…..

…..for obvious reasons…he needs to be attached to a run…whenever he’s outside…..

His harness is attached to a chain…which is attached to an extra link…which can slide on 12-gauge/250 lbs-test wire…..

That’s nothing…his predecessor (a Jack Russell named Hagrid) had to have a shark-lure wire attached to his harness…(which he CHEWED THROUGH)…..

I wanted to show you what a maniacal/fanatical running-terrier can do to galvanized metal…in less than three months…(we have to replace these things regularly)…..

This is a photo of the extra link that attaches Drogo to his run…..

…..he makes himself into a canine-bungee around tree trunks…he runs full tilt from perigee to apogee…he base-jumps off limbs …..

…..all in the best of overly-focused-fun…..

Terriers are just all teeth and hackled fur…..

…..come to think of it…my older daughter…and her Jack Russell are a perfect pair…..

Scary…but true…..
