Opening Hunt Meet

The sun was shining…..

The weather was cold in the early hours and then warmed up (a bit)…..

I think it was in the forties…..

It was Opening Hunt Meet…..

There were over a hundred people…..

The food was GREAT…..

…..the caterer made Grits that were Out Of This World…..!…..!…..!…..

…..(if the chafing dish were any larger I would have used it as a hot tub)…..(with no remorse whatsoever)…..

He does this stuffed French-Toast-thing with sweet cream cheese and mystery spices…..

…..so memorable & delicious…..(she says gazing off abstractly into the middle distance)……

I was put in charge of the horse trailers arriving at the ranch gate again this year…..

…..I looked officious…..I had an officious clip-board…..

…..it was really only a ruse…..

…..(I just smile and wave as the truck drivers and the horse trailers arrive and pass through the cattle gate)…..

Actually my older daughter took over…..(she’s much more efficient than I am)…..

…..(that left me to play on the railroad tracks again)…..

It was a beautiful day…..

…..on a beautiful ranch…..

…..with the Opening Hunt Meet…..our Hunt Club moves from Cubbing Season to the Formal Fox Hunt Season…..

There was “The Blessing of the Hounds”…..

…..quite an emotional ceremony…..

There was a “Tally-Ho” wagon for those who don’t ride…..(should they want to follow the field)…..

The hounds rarely get on any scent at this ranch…..but it is all just so gorgeous…..

…..we really value the opportunity to Hunt on this venue…..

It Was A Great Day…..
