Brave’s training continues…

He acts like a big, brave, silly pony…

Nobody takes him seriously…

He’s doing figure-eights in the round pen now…….

…..he responds with hand signals alone…

Rhiannon can stop him and walk up to him now and put her hands all over him…..

…..that sounds kind of rude, doesn’t it?…

We’ve decided that we need to braid his forelock…..it’s too voluminous…..and it’s getting in the way…

(it is luxurious though…..I wish I had that mane…..he even has waves…)

The next stage for Brave will be getting his halter on…..

…..he’s very anxious about his head and ears…..

…..he doesn’t like them being touched…..

…..but with horse training (gentling)…..trust and time is what is necessary…

Brave is learning to trust Rhiannon…

My bet is that the rope halter will be on very shortly…

We have one hanging on one of the round pen panels…..just waiting…..

…..then the next step will be lots of hands on…..

…..lots of grooming…..brushing…..combing…..and bathing…..

…..and then lots of backing up…..and picking up hooves…..and picking out hooves…..

…..and fly spraying…..and more grooming…….

Lots and lots of hands on…..

He won’t like it at first…..but he will learn to love the added attention…..

…..I’ve already seen a change in his attitude…..

…..he follows me around the pasture now like a puppy…..

He wants the attention…..

…..and that’s right where we want him…..

…..wanting our attention…
