~~~First Hunt Of The 2020/2021 Season~~~
Tra!   La!
It was our Fox Hunt Club’s first Hunt of the new season…..!…..
The Season has begun again!
Yippee!
My younger daughter and I went…..sans horses…..
…..we were there for the post-Hunt Tea and the beginning of the season’s socializing…..
IT WAS GREAT!
Devana & Her Hunt Horse & Hounds
Devana our Huntsman was Great!
The field was out for three hours…..I think Addy will faint when I tell her…..
We brought chocolate chip Irish Soda Bread & butter for the potluck Tea…..
It was sunny…..it was HOT…..it was so HUMID…..(my butter melted)…..
…..you felt like you were filling your lungs with thick steam with every breath…..
I didn’t ride…..
I was a weenie…..
………………….but…..I did bring tasty/home-made bread…………………..
We got there about an hour before the Field got back in…..
Sand Spurs
…..I filled my time pulling the almost-ripe/sand-spur grass that was all around the picnic tables…..
…..in a few weeks…..they will be super painful when they get imbedded in your socks or on your breeches…..
***Just An FYI***we also have Tropical Storm Sally motoring up the Gulf of Mexico right now to our left (if you are looking North).
So as a result…..this morning was sunny…..the Hunt  &  the subsequent Tea was a success…..
…..and then the forecasted bands of clouds and blowing rain started arriving on schedule…..
***Here Comes Sally***
I did notice that no one let the grass grow under their feet with regards to leaving quickly when Sally’s rains started threatening…..
…..maybe it was because the memories of last February’s rains at Croom State Forest were still crystal clear (and mud-boggingly fresh) in every ones minds…..
…..it was the perfect time to head home…..
It Was So Humid…..My Camera Kept Fogging Over
…..and dry off…..
(from the humidity  &  sweat  &  Sally’s rains)
I’m hoping to crank Addy up and Hunt this coming Wednesday evening…..
Addy
…..don’t you know…..she’s tender-footed right now…..
…..it might be because of all of the wet ground and her subsequent soft/sore soles…..
…..or maybe she’s about to blow an abscess…..
Soaking An Abscessed Hoof
……(I don’t want to talk about it)…..
…..but we’ll hope it’s the former and not the latter…..
…..and I’ll start painting her hooves with ***Venice Turpentine*** alternating with iodine……
…..it’s a thing you do with horses with sensitive hoofies…..
