The kitchen sink drain was not doing its job…..

I know this is super boring…but sometimes life is just that…super boring…..

It’s not the first time (in thirty years) that this has happened…and it probably won’t be the last…..

…..we try to be careful…..

…..we have a strainer on the drain…..

…..we removed the garbage disposal years ago…..

…..no bacon grease…..

…..no egg shells…..

…..no vegetable parings…or orts (that’s one of my new crossword puzzle words)…..

…..hardly ever any chicken feathers (just kidding)…..

But it recently slowly clogged…stopped…puddled…and became a reservoir of old dish soap and floating “stuff”…..

We’ve hired plumbers in the past at a fee of $400 per drain…..

~~My Philosophy Is…If A Man With A Beer Belly And An Exposed-Butt-Crack Can Do IT~~

Well that belief & philosophy has been passed down to my older daughter…..

She decided a project-specific-power-tool was necessary…..

…..quickly…the good people at Home Depot…delivered a new tool to our mailbox…..

…..a Power-Drill-Activated-Snake…(no manual-crank stuff for us!)…..

…..It’s super cool…..

My daughter went to work…opening the P-trap under the sink…and then feeding in all the 25′ of the flopping snake into the pipe…..

We could hear/feel it working away under the slab…it took awhile…but it ultimately broke up “whatever” and drained the yucky-puddle…..

Our biggest worry was (given the age of this house & the proximity of all the trees)…..

…..what if the pipe was crushed or collapsed…and over-grown with roots…and filled with sand…..

I don’t want to think about what would subsequently be necessary to re-plumb a house with no basement…that’s built on a cement slab…..(?)…..($$$)…..

…..it boggles the mind…doesn’t it?…..I REALLY don’t want to think about it…..
