It’s never too late for learning new things…

Brave has had his private-pasture-party for too long…

We imprinted on him when he was first born here on our property…

…..but then…he got to slide with regards to his training…

…..my joints crapped out on me…..I needed multiple replacements…..then post-surgery recuperation and rehab…

…..all the while…time rolled past…

…..and Brave got bigger…

He’s not a bad boy…..he’s just intimidating in his hugeness…

He knows he’s big…..

He won’t run you over…..or strike at you…

…..but he will shoulder you out of the way, if you frighten him…

He’s really a big teddy bear…..a big, big, teddy bear/stallion…

But through Suzanne-Annette, I discovered a kind/skilled young woman…

Rhiannon…..(yep…that’s an alias)…

She has trained some of Suzanne-Annette’s young thoroughbreds…

She’s gentle and slow with Brave…..which is really what he needs…..(he does not live up to his name)

But an insecure and timid horse can ultimately hurt you just as badly as a bold and brave one…

I can work with Brave with the very basic care of grooming and feeding…

…..but, I need to be able to trailer him if necessary, shoe him, or do other necessary animal-husbandry needs…

My older daughter is dead-eyed/accurate with a specialty blow gun for vaccinations…..

…..so, he’s up-to-date on all of his med’s…..(he has NO idea where the mystery shots come from)

…..my daughter can lead her aim on a moving horse and ping him accurately with a vaccination every time…..

…..I pity her boyfriend…..

However…..we need more from Brave…..

Rhiannon has been doing a lot of round pen work with him…

There’s no rush…

Joining-up can be a slow & patient process…

Brave is worth it…

Ultimately, I want him trained to a phantom mare for semen collection…..that’s my goal…

That way…no matter what happens in our topsy-turvy life here with snakes, or lightening strikes, or weird viruses, or just chronic bad luck…..

…..then I could potentially have future Brave babies frozen in the safety of a semen-tank…

Rhiannon would like to get him trained to the point of driving in-harness and riding under-saddle…….

…….hmmmmmmmmmmmm…………..I want a show of hands now…….

…….should this sixty-six year old crawl up into the saddle when Brave is all trained up…….(?)

…….that would be one hell’uv a pony ride!!!

…….a quick gallop with a long drop…

…….could be fun!
