My older daughter and her oldest friend went to the beach last week…..

Both women were born and raised in Florida…..

Both were born after the introduction of sun-block…and both know how to take care of themselves in the sun…..

Where my era was known to slather themselves with Crisco and Coppertone (before the advent of SPF)…their generation is completely SPF-Conscious…..

The Sun-Protection-Factor…..

Both used sun block lotion…they both wore hats…they both re-applied conscientiously…..

…..And They Both Got BADLY Sun-Burned!?!…..

Their insteps were scarlet…their eyelids were swollen & cerise…..

…..their feet even had some crimson-gray(?) raised lumps around all the scarlet burning(?)…..

…..It Was Weird!…..

~~~~~Something’s different about the sun these days~~~~~

I remember repeatedly laying out on the exact same beach…(a very very long time ago)…with no sun block…..

…..For Hours…..

…..not getting burned…getting way more tanned (than what’s cool now)…..

…..but not burned…(too often)…(and not like this)…..

Is the Ozone-Thickness different now?…Has it totally worn away?…..

Maybe all those chemtrails aren’t working(?)…..

Maybe the air pollution has been quietly cleaned up since the ’70’s and the sun can get through more intensely(?)…(unlikely…but we can hope)…..

But my girls were SPF’d up the ying-yang…..

…..and they were both very very stinging-red lobsters…days later…..

…..I don’t get it…..

The beach is still beautiful…the sand is still sugar-white…the water is still beautifully blue…..

…..but the sun is homicidal…..

Our glorified Sand-Spit-of-a-State surrounds itself with tourists…all coming down for the beautiful beaches that we have on every side of the state (but one)…..

…..someone should warn them…about the increased potential of over-cooking & sun-sizzle…..

Plus there’s more to consider while frolicking on our idyllic-beachfront…..

…..sometimes (quite often…these days) the beaches get closed for Red Tide…..

Red Tide isn’t something that sneaks up on you…you can smell it long before you get close to the water…..

…..poor/dead/rotting fish (et al)…..
