Wind Shear Is My Friend

Upper level wind shear can be a good thing.
*****Wind Shear Explained*****

It’s a very good thing to have around during Hurricane Season.

Meteorologists have a list of their own terms & jargon that anyone living in Florida learns and clings to from June through November.

Upper Level Wind Shear is a warm-fuzzy term…

When I hear that word-combination bandied about, it makes me happy…
Wind Shear is a weather condition that blows around way up high…
It can literally blow the tops right off “tropical-things” that are starting to think about becoming “tropical systems”…
…….and when that happens, a potential hurricane gets nipped in the bud.

There are more terms my ears are magnetized to…….

“Surface Level Rotation”————-that’s a bad word combination…….bad…….real bad…

You don’t want a “Tropical System” developing any “Surface Level Rotation”…

Nope you don’t……….that immediately makes me want to throw up.

Right now the Gulf of Mexico’s water temperature is holding at 89F…….
…….well isn’t that a refreshing dip…….?
…….the warmer the Gulf’s temperature…the easier for a Hurricane to develop.
T
…….combined with the waterborne, flesh-eating bacteria that’s in the water…..that can really put a dent in your day at the beach…….?
*****Information On Flesh-Eating Bacteria*****
Here’s a fun meteorological-term…….”Dew Point”.

…….quick house-wife definition of “Dew Point”…
It refers to how much water you can wring out of the air…
It’s at 78% right now…
That’s pretty yucky & gooey & wet…

…….and hard to breath.
Here are some other weather-terms that warrant attention…….
…….”Wind-Flow Patterns”…….and “Troughs”…
In the summer a SW “Wind-Flow” can be problematic (and puke-worthy) when it’s hanging off the coastline out in the Gulf…….

…(wind direction always confuses me…….a southwest wind flow means that it’s coming from the SW not going to the SW)…

So if something nasty is coming north up the Gulf, a SW wind flow will blow all its garbage right onto us………….sigh…
So that’s the skinny on Florida’s summer meteorological vocabulary words for the day…

…….a quiz will follow…
Now I need to put on my pencil-cut dress & a string of pearls and start practicing pointing out things on a green-screen.
Along with a smear of vaseline on my front teeth, so I can have a constant/unencumbered/unctuous smile.
Oh wait………….I hear thunder rumbling in the distance…
Oh goodie…….
…….more rain…
