In Retrospect………….(hindsight being 20/20)…..

What If…..

…..all the time…and headache…and worry…and preparations that are put into each year’s Hurricane Season…actually worked as a weight-reduction program?…..

What If…all the meteorological angst actually allowed you to burn off some of those extra rolls and chunky bumps?…..

I know I’m possibly being illogical…..

…..but…What If?…..

There would be at least one up-side to each year’s impending Season-of-Doom…..

You’d be able so say…”But Hey…I lost twenty-five pounds…so there’s that”…..

I’m still trying to wrap my head around this last hurricane season…..

I’ve lived on the west coast of Florida for over fifty years…..

I realize that in the progression of Earth’s eras and eons…that my little fifty years of observation doesn’t count for much…..

But…..

…..a hurricane from the Gulf of Mexico…making landfall in the big bend area of Florida…..

…..then traveling diagonally across Georgia…to the Carolinas…and not loosing strength?…..

Even my relatives in northeastern Ohio said they felt some of the residual winds after Helene’s tromp through the States…..

I mean…people who live along any coastline know there’s a potential of a storm rolling over them…but that far inland?…..

…..and it wasn’t even a storm from the Atlantic?…but from the Gulf of Mexico?…..

I’m not a meteorologist…but it doesn’t fit into my ruminations with my good ole’ housewife logic…..

…..there’s just so much mileage and acreage between the Gulf of Mexico and North Carolina…..

It boggles the mind…..

My observation doesn’t count for much…I’m just a wrinkly old crank on the west coast of Sunny Sub-Tropical Florida…..

We were so very lucky…Helene and Milton left us with reparable damage…..

As far as I know…my friends faired okay too…..

But so many lost their homes…lost their livelihoods…lost their lives…..

Mother Nature is a strong hefty old Broad…and not to be taken lightly…..

Has anyone been keeping track of how many typhoons have been careening over the Philippines recently?…..

…..so many…..

…..???…..
