Wasps are ill-tempered bugs with ongoing anger management issues…..

Those little athletic enraged creatures can slap up a nest from one day to the next…in places where you least expect them…..

…..places you previously thought were safe…and stinger free…..

My older daughter just found a wasp’s nest inside the refueling flap of her truck…..

It’s like they just sit there and wait…until they can sting anyone who unsuspectingly opens the flap to refuel the truck…..

…..that’s just precognitive meanness…..

Recently…after feeding the mares…we like to sit in the Adirondack chairs in the front yard…and wait for them to finish…..

On this occasion…everything was fine and good…until a nasty angry hit & run wasp stung me (for no reason at all) and then sped away…..

…..little spindly #%^$%&$#-er…..

I’ve been stung lots of times by honey bees…..

Don’t get wrong…they really hurt and I hate when it happens…because the honey bee dies afterwards…..

But (unfortunately) wasps Do Not Die after stringing their victims…..

They gleefully smile and live to sting another day…..

Later that night…after dark…I went outside…armed with a flashlight and a can of wasp spray…..

Yep…there it was…a new nest right under the armrest of my lawn chair…(it soon became an ex-wasp nest)…..

At this point…I could talk about bush hogging…I really don’t want to…but I could…..

Who would’ve thought that these irascibly peevish Vespula vulgaris would build their nests in amongst the dog fennel!?!…..

But they do…..

Recently…I found that out the hard way…while I was bush hogging the pastures…..

There were lots of them…(wasps as well as lots and lots of Expletives)…..

…..actually…that reminds me…..

We need to trailer a horse next week…and I really need to check the horse trailer and make sure there are No wasp nests who have taken up residency inside…..

…..(that potential just boggles the mind with it’s inconceivable awfulness…while motoring down a highway)…..

I don’t know if I’ve mentioned this story before in a previous blog post…..

…..about a friend of mine…who once told me of her experience with her horse trailer and the previously undiscovered wasp’s nests…while going across the George Washington Bridge from New York to New Jersey…..

…..not a pretty story…..

All in All…horses and wasps are Not a good combination…..

Bush hogging and wasps are Not a good combination either…(they’re hard to outrun on a slow tractor)…..

Sunny Sub-Tropical Florida has SO many mean bugs…you can take your pick of color and attitude…and Florida has just about all of them…all year round…..
