Yep…..it’s officially here…..“Egg Season”…

Everyone one is laying…..they haven’t started “setting” yet…..

…..(put a group of people together…..and they’ll inevitably create their own jargon)…..

…..(Chicken-Terms…you will be quizzed later)…

It’s Springtime and all of the hens are ramped-up into over-drive in terms of egg-production…..

There’s a boon of eggs…..They Are EVERYWHERE!…..

My kitchen refrigerator is over-flowing…..the garage refrigerator is stacked with filled egg cartons…..

I’m trying to foist them on anyone who even stutter-steps near me…..

…..Ester promised to come by and take some…..she never showed…..

I know where you live Ester!…..I’m going to fill your mailbox!…..

Simone has another egg-source…..(sigh)…..

Tess came by and said she’d take a dozen…..or so…..

…..I distracted her while my older daughter packed a box and shoved it in her car…..

Doctor Brigid has her own chickens…..so does Suzanne-Annette…..and so does B.J…..

…..that’s just what happens when you have equally-agro friends…..

The crows are circling the farm and circling me constantly…..it’s reminiscent of Alfred Hitchcock…..

…..they’re in the trees…..they’re on the the roof…..it’s a really creepy…..

…..I’m finding abandoned nests everywhere…..(so are the crows)…..

…..the ducks lay them while they are waddling across the lawn…..(?)…..

…..the turkeys are…..too old…..(but still stupid and sweet)…..

The pig and the hounds are getting their share of questionable eggs of unknown percolations…..

I’ve been known to tip the UPS & FedEx drivers with eggs…..

In a month’s time with the rising summer heat…..I’ll easily be able to locate the nests that the hens have abandoned and the crows never found…..

There have been times I’ve found a hen “setting” and removed the eggs from under her (otherwise it’s a dangerous twenty-one days for her to be outside 24/7)…..

…..only to find her later setting on an empty nest…..

Poultry are hard-wired for egg-production at this time of the year…..

 

…..SOME SUGGESTIONS FOR RANDOM/WANTON EGG DISPOSAL…..Never Shake Them…..Pick Them Up Slowly & Gently & Never To Face-Level…..NEVER/NEVER Try To Launch Them With A SlingShot…..If You Feel Them “Sloshing” In The Shell—Back Away Slowly & Quickly…..If You Smell The Nest Before You See It—You’re Doomed…..
