The Pay Check Is In The Bank

The Pay Check Is In The Bank

Paolo (my husband) works for the State of Florida.

He has since 1983…………….(I think).

But whatever the year………it’s been a long time……….(too long to remember accurately).

But with working for the state, comes the state’s mandated routine of——–only being paid once a month.

We’ve gotten used to it over the years.

All you need is storage room and a plan………..and a lot of creativity at the end of the month………..along with non-picky eaters.

Non-picky eaters are a must in this family…………….if you can’t identify what’s in the crock pot……………just don’t ask…

Up North we would buy groceries and supplies in preparation for blizzards.

Down here we purchase stuff to be ready for hurricanes.

With Paolo working for the State…………our monthly grocery shopping is a lot like prepping for a hurricane or a blizzard………….(as long as the hurricanes or blizzards don’t come at the end of the month——-because then our cupboards are bare).

Canned baked beans on toast is a very tasty dinner……….and it’s filling.

My once-a-month grocery list is extensive.

I buy flour and sugar by the twenty-five pound bags.

I always have huffy housewives behind me in the check-out line.

If I made eye-contact with them ( I don’t make eye-contact with them), my fellow home-makers would be rolling their puffy-lidded eyes at my overly-stuffed shopping cart with its dangling sundries.

They would be making hissy sounds that are not completely under their breath about my shopping routine and cart volume…

Ask me if I care?

They are just overly-animated, gassy old broads…

It makes me want to peel off a couple price tags, just to make the bagger have to run back for a price check……………..and delay the entire process just an itty bitty bit longer……………………heh  heh  heh…

I never said I was nice.

I usually don’t even try anymore…………….

Hissing, huffy housewives annoy me…
