The Nettles & The Hag

The Nettles & The Hag

Some Sort Of Thistle Surrounded By A Veritable Sea Of Nettles

Finally———Today was the Day…

Today was the day, I pulled the new back-pack sprayer thing out of its box———read the directions (sort of)———-and Paolo measured out the herbicide———and away I went.

First of all———four gallons of fluid strapped to your back is heavy…

Secondly———-it’s super top-heavy and sloshy…

But two artificial hips and two artificial knees offer a better stability than I think I ever had before…………….(and, don’t tell my orthopedic surgeons).

I only got the sprayer hung up a couple times ducking under the electric fencing…………….AND I didn’t get zapped once!!!  Tra!  La!

I do, however, have to do more spraying in a day or so………………..I thought it would be appropriately cautious to wait and see just how well this herbicide fries the #$&%#%*&^$ nettles…………..plus, after a few refills…………..I just got tired.

Those mean, thriving, mean weeds are EVERYWHERE.

They are the ONLY plant that has ever grown well here…

Brazilian Soda Apples In Our Front Pasture

No, that’s not true…………….the Brazilian Soda Apples have grown robustly and self-propagated too.

*****Brazilian Soda Apple*****

My friend said the nettles are good to brew in tea…………..I would need lead-shield gloves just to pick the boogers.

Brazilian Soda Apple Close-Up Photo & Why They Are On My Hated-Weed-List/Nice Thorns, Huh?

All I want to do is pulverize them into a gooey-green-slimy-slurry…

They are the bane of my springtime (into summer) here in the swamp…

~~~~~So this afternoon I webble-wobbled all around the property with gallons of poison strapped to my back and a battery-operated sprayer-wand in my hand……………………….Quick Draw McSwamp…
Pretty Weed
Magnolia
I avoided the wild violets (I love them) and the pretty weeds.
I avoided the young magnolia trees that decided to voluntarily start growing in the back yard.
Papaya Tree/Bush
I didn’t spray the papaya plant/tree that also decided to start itself…………..probably both the magnolias and the papaya were as a result of a fly-over by a non-constipated bird…….
Pretty Weed
(also we do get the occasional tomato plant in the pig sty———I don’t want to know……………)
So now I wait……….eagerly………with my nose pressed up against the windows waiting for the nettles to start to wither and die.
Not Nettles, But You Get The Idea.
Die…………….nettles……………Die……………!
