I have given the Florida State Fair a miss this year…..

I’m too tired with the Irish Wolfhound puppies…and in addition they’re still to young to leave for any length of time…..

I really don’t like to leave them unattended until they are securely ensconced in a wire cage with a locked door…too much can happen here…and it often does…..

But my older daughter and her friend (for years & years—going way back to when they were itty-bitties) went to the Florida State Fair on Valentines…I think this year the Fair marketed Valentines Day as Pal-entine’s Day…..

Both girls were raised on the midway…they were dragged to the Goat Barn at an early age…for Dairy Goat Shows…they were enticed into PeeWee Class with renegade goats and forced up through 4-H and ultimately Open Showing…..

This year…without any responsibilities of showing animals…they wandered the Midway…in search of food…..

Over the years…they both developed their favorite vendors…and that was the primary mission of Pal-entine’s Day…..

Fiske’s French Fries…(Very High On Their Search List)…they’re a staple of most fair-goers…..

Afterwards…they sought out and found Peachey’s Doughnuts…..

…..they told me about a big glazed donut-bowl whose center was filled with banana pudding…(that’s added to my bucket list now…along with a mule ride down the Grand Canyon)…..

I quizzed them about this year’s culinary Midway Oddities…..

…..Deep-Fried Twinkies…Deep-Fried Ice Cream…(that one boggles the mind)…Florida Quesadilla with Gator Snacks…Jalepeno Lemonade…just to name a few…..

I’ll try just about anything…but I might draw the line…at Pickled-Flavored Cotton Candy…..

…..that one’s a little scary…..

They washed everything down with iced tea from the Tiki Tea vendor… *****(Tiki Teas)*****

…..(shhhhh…don’t tell anybody…but if you go back with your special glass…you save $4.00 on any refills)…..

…..(and because we’re such regulars—we’re almost pseudo-carnies)…my daughter took back the Tiki Tea refillable mason jars (from earlier Fairs)…and they saved $4.00 every fill-up)…(shhhhh)…..

…..(we are “thrifty” Fair-Goers)…..

The very last stop was the vendor where all the exhibitors hang out…it’s real food…good wholesome mashed potatoes and steak tips…..

It’s a regular for FFA and 4-H’ers (and their parents)…..

…..apparently there were two vendor selling steak tips this year (that’s new)…they were tucked in by the Expo Hall and the Show Barns…..

It’s good to know your way around the Fair…..
