Are answering machines considered old-fashioned and obsolete?

I don’t know…….I’m a bad one to ask…….(?)

I’m in the same category.

We have one…

It still works…

We still use it…..(daily)…

It works well…

It’s attached to our land-line…..on a cute little cupboard shelf designated solely for the answering machine…..

…..how do I keep getting so old, ancient and behind the times…when I consider myself really groovy…….?

***We have to have a land-line here because we are so far out in the boonies that any cell phone coverage is sketchy at best…

Plus another reason to have a land-line is because our house has a tin roof…

An old-fashioned  (yes, I used that word AGAIN)  5V-Crimp, tin roof.

And the galvanized metal makes cell phone reception, while in the house, even dodge-ier…

Recently a friend (after phoning and leaving a message) asked me if we had an old-fashioned answering machine…

Huh?          What?

I didn’t consider our answering machine old-fashioned…

I mean…..we don’t have to crank it, or anything like that…

…..it works on electricity…

I had thought we were up-to-date and technologically-savvy…….?…….

Maybe we’re not?

Are we behind the times by just having an answering machine on its own designated shelf in our kitchen?…….(we do)…….?

Maybe I should ask “the cloud-thingie” out there…

I haven’t spoken to my cloud-friend, Pascal, for quite awhile…….
