Thank You To Good Friends

Thank You To Good Friends

The federal government officially considers me medicare-worthy now. Maybe the telemarketers and all of the over-sized postcards (with ezzy-read, large print) will stop. I’ve manditorially walked towards the light of the government-mandated old-age gateway. I have heaved my crepe-sagging jowls, cellulitic-paunches  & swollen ankles over that geriatric line in the sand. Phew, I’m glad that’s over…   …That was fun…   Plus at the courtesy of Simone & Ester…….at the newly/ripe/old age of sixty-five…….I’ve discovered my new, most-bestest drink……

State Fair Poultry Entries

State Fair Poultry Entries

We’re getting organized… I’ve got enthusiastic friends on board… The poultry has been identified and chosen… Entry forms have been filled-out and sent in…   Our $3.00 entry fees have been emptied out of pockets and couch cushions and counted up…     Houston, we are on a go status… However a tragic, major stumble has already occurred………………..(i.e.  my friend, Suzanne-Annette’s exhibit ducks were eaten by a dog owned by her Airbnb visitors………….sigh.) The dog broke into her coop…

Oyster Shucking & Bunny-Bites

Oyster Shucking & Bunny-Bites

Philosophy on Life     You Have to Keep moving Forward.   ********** There are other options, but I’ve found this one to be the most productive. And, I have always believed in productivity. My definition of what’s productive probably really differs from someone else’s…………………. But:  News Flash! ~~~~~~~~~~~~~My Blog~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~My Definition~~~~~~~~~~~~ So here goes…………… I recently went to our Hunt Club’s Lobster/Kentucky Derby Party. I kind of had to………….I was on the Committee. Really, it was just a committee…

It’s All About the Ribbons (And the Fried Food)

It’s All About the Ribbons (And the Fried Food)

I spent last evening looking at my chicken catalogs.     And yes, to answer your next question……………………………… I have multiple chicken catalogs.  And most of the hatcheries have been around since before I was born.  That’s a long time.   All through my life, I have gone to post offices and picked up my over-night chicks of various colors, genders, & types.   They come through swimmingly (really swimmingly?—–pick another adverb)………………..They come through really gooder. My older…

Yesterday’s Hunt

Yesterday’s Hunt

Up at 3:45AM.   Out the door by 4:30.   Spinach Dip and Cracked Pepper Corn Irish Soda Bread packed for the Tea (pot luck) along with a bottle of Chicken Whine for Simone (one of our Masters/and friend). My younger daughter and I are going to the Hunt. At the fixture, it’s still pre-dawn.  Arriving trucks and horse trailers are doing their aluminum and steel, well-reversed dance in & around the trees in a pasture, in the dark,…

Cedar Panels & Sauna Trailer

Cedar Panels & Sauna Trailer

Why do I always seem to end up in this aluminum, hot-box in the hottest months of the year paneling my horse trailer?  Maturity and experience-in-planning, I guess. The perks are that the heat and humidity make the cedar smell really nice.  It easily over-rides the excessive equine & goat urine smell that usually permeates everything inside the trailer. Maybe with enough research I can find some sinus or aromatherapy perks to sunbaked-enhanced-livestock-pee-pee smell……………….I can easily verify the iron-clad fact…

Carousel

Carousel

I’m a bit panicked.  Esther and Simone are both selling their horses and looking for different models………………………they must know something I don’t……………..maybe my mares are out there right now in the pasture along with other equine mounts all over the world planning to snuff-out their owners.  A multiple whack-job or organized equine-mafia hit. These two ladies are phenomenal riders.  They are the ones with constant good posture and non-muddy breeches even when their horses have pinned their heads to the…

I Love This Club

I Love This Club

I think I’ve belonged to this Hunt Club since either 2000 or 2001.  Can’t remember.  But honestly, there’s a lot I can’t remember……………..What a fun, hysterical, mixed-kettle of fish!  You never know what to expect, but you can rest assured it will probably be unexpected. We have the best parties.  We have the best stories.  We have Hunt Club brawls (that was before my time in the 80’s, but it’s a legend).  We have the best Teas.  What is a…
