Stacking the Chicken Deck…….(or how to win big bucks @ next years Florida State Fair)

I’m perusing the poultry web-sites… I’m checking chicken mail-order catalogs…   This IS the time of year to start prepping for next year’s Poultry Show at the Florida State Fair.   My younger daughter got her prize money winnings for her Best of Breed Blue-Laced Red Wyandotte hen———she won $5.00… …………………………………………….Woot!  Woot!………………………………………………   Simone should have received her prize money check in the mail by now for her Rooster “Rex”.  She either got $3.00 or maybe even a whopping…

We do have livestock slat openings along the top of the back…

Sometimes I find it’s hard to keep up with life here in the swamp. I’d like to think I orchestrate a lot of the comings and goings; that I have a finger on the pulse of the farm so to speak. Recently I found that’s not the case at all, I’m just part of the flotsam & jetsam in the current of rural life. Which brings me to the recent Florida State Fair. When my girls (the human ones) were…
