The Fox Hunting Season Continues…

**********Please Subscribe To My Blog…..It Really Helps********** This year’s Fox Hunting Season is in full swing….. Mary Constance just sent me the GPS mapping of the hounds at last Saturday’s Hunt….. It was at a ranch just south of us…and apparently they covered 15.5 miles….. Geez!  Louise!………….that was a long Hunt….. But a good Hunt horse can do it…at least the weather was a little cooler…not cold…but cooler….. Mary Constance said the first half of the Hunt was a blank……..

*******Please Subscribe To My Blog…..It Really Helps******* CLICK HERE***Maybe This Link Will Get You To My Tick Tock Channel*** Well…that’s the question….. We’ve started having people leaning over the front fence trying to feed and attract the horses to come closer….. In the past…..I was cool with that….. …..not so much anymore….. …..I’m sure you remember…..four years ago we lost so many (9) of our horses (our friends) to poisoning….. ~~~”The Final Report”, Blog-Post~~~ ~~~”It’s Not Over Yet”, Blog-Post~~~ We…

*****Hairy Clydesdales*****

*****Hairy Clydesdales*****

I know I’ve mentioned this before… …..but it warrants another comment or two……. Clydesdale’s are hairy creatures…….! And I don’t know why or what the purpose is of all of the extra fur…….? I was leading Claire up for the vet the other day……. …..and I just couldn’t resist snapping these pictures……. …..her mustache was just so pretty and pristine and curly and ample…….! Clydesdales and Shires have beautiful and luxurious feathers…..(that need A LOT of constant scrubbing and cleaning)…

When In Doubt…….Test Everything

When In Doubt…….Test Everything

The post’s title says it all. And this is what we are doing. “Things” are being Over-Night’d and FedEx’d and U.P.S.’d everywhere. Cultures and petri dishes take various amounts of time to percolate and crystalize and separate…………but we are keeping a lot of slurries of agar very, very busy. My older daughter says that agar smells like chicken soup.  She identified the smell in the expensive, botulism-anti-toxin plasma that my older daughter’s friend drove up to Ocala to pick…

Memoirs from the All Florida Meet

Memoirs from the All Florida Meet

I survived.       Lola excelled.         Ruby flew through it.           And Violet hates me……..         There were so many exciting times, exhilarating runs, fresh disasters, good food, rivers of champagne, and better than mediocre bourbon. Let’s not over-look the variety of flasks that would appear out of nowhere with sudden and surprising regularity. They would sprout from Hunt jacket pockets, saddlebags, and inside vest pockets. The…

The Marathon

The Marathon

Sore—-sore—-and sore…     We leave tomorrow morning at 4:00AM for a ranch south of here.  That will be Hunt number three in four days.     I think Violet and Ruby are shell-shocked.       But even so, when I woke up this morning they were at the front gate looking eagerly down the road.  And anytime any of us would go outside, they follow us around and ultimately walk over and wait by the…

Riding Again (with Modifications)

Riding Again (with Modifications)

We’ve established.  I’m not proud.  I will accomplish what I have to, when I have to, and it doesn’t have to be pretty. I’ve hauled and Hunted three consecutive times now in a row.  And I am planning to again this coming Wednesday. I must have some muscles left.  I know this because whatever is left of my phantom musculature is screaming and whining………………..but that’s a good thing………………………it has to be…………..(?)  Throwing in the towel is not an option. What…

The End of Hurricane Season is Nigh!

The thirtieth of this month is the official end of the 2017 Hurricane Season.                November 30th. Tum!! Ta!! Da!! To celebrate I am taking my newly installed inverter-thingie for my truck to the Hunt on Wednesday along with my household kitchen blender and I will be making Hurricanes for everybody!  Tra!  La!…………Tra!  La! Steve (my trusty diesel mechanic) has already installed the necessary plugs from one of my truck’s batteries through the front…

One More Time Around

One More Time Around

The stronger bit for Violet has arrived!  HA!  Horse! Try spinning me off again! But before that, Ruby will be my steed.  But Ruby is “barn sour”, “pasture sour”, “herd bound”, “buddy sour”………………….by any name, it’s a pain.  And it’s a sorrow. I haven’t ridden regularly for so long, they have all gotten used to reclining in the pasture, eating alfalfa and bon-bons…………………..while sipping on sweet tea.       And then I get my last (hopefully) joint replaced…
