*Friends*giving*

*******Please Subscribe To My Blog…..It Really Helps******* *****(Friendsgiving—It’s A Thing)***** Over this last weekend…we went to a Friends-giving….. It was hosted by my older daughter’s cool friend—Moxy….. Everyone has traditional plans for their traditional Thanksgiving…but Friendsgiving…is a large get together…for friends….. *****(Emily Post on Friendsgiving)***** I really like this concept…plus it’s a lot of fun….. It was a covered-dish affair…it was so easy….. We have a lot of experience with pulling off Hunt Club Teas…we already have all the bells…

Chartreuse Tray

Chartreuse Tray

I’ve learned something new….. My friend (Simone) taught me a new word….. *****Charcuterie***** …..and if you’re cool…..you know what it means….. …..that means I’m cool now….. (well…..I’ve always been cool…..but now I’m slammin-bitchin-cool) *****Chartreuse Tray Explained***** Well it’s not necessarily green…..(although I suppose it could be…..especially with questionable meat) …..but it IS difficult to spell….. …..and pronounce….. Apparently it’s the way-cool, new-thing to bring to a banquet or buffet….. …..or in our case…..a Fox Hunt Tea….. A Charcuterie appears to…

…….it was a dark and ominous evening in the forest…….

Fox Hunters are game for just about any inclement weather……. Several years ago our tried & true club members were actually Hunting during a small(?) named Hurricane……. …..in all fairness it had just been down-graded to a Tropical Storm at that point…… …..(but there was another one on the way)……. …..to this day (when we Hunt on that Fixture) there are still maturing pine trees that have a right-angle growth pattern (parallel to the ground) where the wind blew them…

All Hallows Eve & All Saints Day

All Hallows Eve & All Saints Day

………….phew, this has been a super busy week and then some…………. Our Hunt Club Tea went well… People were well fed… Music blared.  (A huge industrial fan had to be enlisted (we have record breaking heat here in Florida for this time of the year.) I feel good when people not only eat the food I’ve made, but also take carrots for their horses along with a take home plate for later for themselves……. …..that means the food must’ve tasted…

Halloween Fun-ness!

Halloween Fun-ness!

Halloween is coming up. So is my first Hunt Club Tea. The Tea’s on Wednesday evening (tomorrow). Halloween is on Thursday. I’m planning my menu now. It’ll be easy…….Shepherd’s Pie,  Baked Spaghetti Casserole,  Caesar salad,  Goat Curry  (one of our Masters lived in Jamaica for awhile), Cobweb cupcakes and Halloween cookies with Sprinkles. …….with beverages and a full bar…….(of course)… We have so many cookie cutters… …..it’s easy to find Seasonal favorites… So we pulled out broomsticks, hissing cats, Dracula…

Oh, Where—Oh, Where……….

Oh, Where—Oh, Where……….

Last Wednesday’s Hunt was unique, catered & cold. Actually, the catered Tea was really good.  It was Greek.     We have a large Greek population in the Tampa Bay Area, specifically in Tarpon Springs. So the greek food in this general area is really good. There was a gyro bar where you could make your own, lots of hummus, and authentic greek salad.   Really nice…………..not suitable for my Dr. Atkins dieting though. I settled for lettuce.  …

***************IT’S TEA TIME!***************

Our Riding Club season has begun………….. Through the Jell-O-consistency humidity and the dripping, suffocating heat and the hurricane threats (at best)…………..we ride on… We’re idiots… …………equine endorphine-swilling idiots…………   …………but we ride on………… …………and it’s great.   With the advent of our Hunt season, our family’s scheduled “Tea” is just around the corner. And by “just around the corner”, by that I mean it’s five days away…   I just did a hit on our neighborhood liquor store (if…

Pot Luck Woes

Pot Luck Woes

Today’s Tea is a Pot Luck. I prepared for it last night by making over six dozen peanut butter cookies (my grandmother’s recipe).   I dutifully placed them on the THIRD shelf of our pie safe, which is attached to the wall above one of our kitchen butcher blocks. The third shelf is the “safe” shelf. We know this from trial and error experience. Anything  below the third shelf, the cats can reach……………… We’ve caught them licking…

Assembly Line Food a.k.a. Hunt Club “Tea”

Assembly Line Food a.k.a. Hunt Club “Tea”

***************Our Tea*************** (No Tea will be offered)……………..Cosmopolitans, Screwdrivers, water (pleeeeeze!), Absinthe, and something that looks like a bomb from Captain Morgan…………….but no tea AND no coffee.  Sorry………………(no, not really). My younger daughter & I just did a hit on Walmart.  We’ve already done our run on ABC Liquors. I’m pooped.  I’m sitting now looking at the plastic bags hanging from doorknobs, draping from cabinets, hanging off of butcher blocks.  Piled on the floor.  Why is it that as soon as…

Yesterday’s Hunt

Yesterday’s Hunt

Up at 3:45AM.   Out the door by 4:30.   Spinach Dip and Cracked Pepper Corn Irish Soda Bread packed for the Tea (pot luck) along with a bottle of Chicken Whine for Simone (one of our Masters/and friend). My younger daughter and I are going to the Hunt. At the fixture, it’s still pre-dawn.  Arriving trucks and horse trailers are doing their aluminum and steel, well-reversed dance in & around the trees in a pasture, in the dark,…
