Summer’s Almost Over

Summer’s Almost Over

*******Please Subscribe To My Blog…..It Really Helps*******

Who am I kidding…..

Or maybe…it’s just wishful thinking…..

My Aunt Cory (up in northeastern Ohio) said that some of the tree leaves are actually starting to change to yellows and golds…..

And some of her nights are actually in the sixties…(sigh)………….(double sigh)…..

I miss a real Autumn down here…..

We just get Hot…then Hotter…then…less Hot…and that’s about it…..

…..and the leaves here…..

…..they are green…..

Then they’re darker green…then they wither…and turn crinkly brown…and they hang onto the limbs until next Spring…(or they get blown off by a meteorological Tropical-Something)…..

There are so many projects that we want to either complete…or get started on………….but it’s just so very very Hot…..

And yes…I know I’m whining…..

I’m hot…and I’m whining…..

Here are some of the outdoor projects that have been waiting in the wings…..

#1–Finish the Back Deck…..

It’s something we know how to do…..

…..drill lots of holes…use lots of screws…get lots of joists………….it’s just not something that’s easily do-able in this excessive heat…and sun…and 100% humidity (without it raining(?)…(how is that possible(?)…..

…plus Hurricane Milton delayed us…

#2–Repair the Barn Wood…..

Dry rot has occurred…and Hurricane Milton visited and blew out some of the rotted stall walls…..

Bartholomew

And added to that…our old reliable sawmill closed down…..

Now there are multi-floor apartments…where the lumber mill used to be…..

And these apartments are built with internal AND external OSB (Oriented Strand Board)…..

…..or as I like to refer to it…Official *%#$* Board…the humidity is going to hit that *%#$* and it will disintegrate…..

But apparently the building inspectors are okay with it…..

*****(What’s OSB Wood?)*****

It took us a little while…but I think we’ve located another sawmill…who will cut dimensional rough cut boards for us…..

…..so we might be good to go on that project once again…..

#2.5–Barn Rafters/a la Milton…..

Yeah…I don’t want to talk about that one…..

#2.5 is on the back burner for awhile…I haven’t wrapped my head around it yet…..

#3–Mow the Front Yard…..

Okay…that’s an easy one.  We will just mow it…soon…..

But we’re waiting…because traditionally we’ve had really lousy grass in our front yard…and for some reason…this year grass started to grow there(?).

So we want to take full advantage of the current grass and we’re waiting for it to go to seed…(that’s the plan anyway)…..

#4–Finish Fencing the Back (Swamp) Pasture…Oh Yippee!…..

My Favorite!…..

A planned blood-letting event using Fun and Not-So-Easy to string barbed wire…..

We need this for our next planned project…which is an addition of a couple of Florida Cracker Cows…..

I think I’ll leave my list at #4…..

…..because honestly…..

Knowing that at my age and being on blood thinners…I’ll have the time to finish off the rest of the Outdoor To-Do List while I’m relaxing and getting a transfusion…..

Well anyway…that’s my plan…..

Tra!  La!

Onward and upward…..
