It’s that time of year…..

Our local grocery store is having it’s annual Holiday Sales…..

It starts with Thanksgiving…and runs through December…to the New Year…..

First turkeys are on sale…then beef…as well as scallops…along with shrimp of various sizes…peeled or unpeeled…pre-cooked or raw…..

It’s weeks and weeks of a veritable Protein-Extravaganza…..

Protein-ous foods and I are the best-est of friends…..

…..don’t get me wrong…I love a well-placed carb…..

…..But Protein Rules Supreme….

…..and Beef…well…that just goes right to the top of the list…..

…..”Limit of One Per Customer”?…..

…..No Problem…..

…..Which shopping visit?…What date?…How Many Times Can You Go into the Store on any Given Day?…..

…..the loop-holes are endless…the beef purchases are only reined in by the limits of your debit card…and one’s imaginative purchasing skills…..

Ah…Protein…..

My older daughter was armed with said debit card and launched towards Winn Dixie…..

She had a chat with the butcher on one of her visits…..

…..because the standing rib roasts that were available in the meat case…were on the small-ish side…with a tad too much fat…..

There was another shopper nearby…who lacked the creative thought to ask the butcher for a larger roast…..

…..but he continued to stalk my daughter down the canned goods aisle…looking enviously into her shopping cart…..

She and I were on the phone at the time…and I encouraged her to stay vigilant…..

…..stare down this non-innovative shopper…and warn him off our roast…..

It had the possibility of becoming a feral show-down over the prime rib in her cart…..

…..this guy had no chance…all bets were on my daughter…..

She’s inherited my propensity for a good chunk of beef…and I felt confident…she would fight him for it…..

…..and win…..

She made it through the check-out…to the truck…and safely back home with her bagged prize…..

Beef………….it’s what’s for dinner…..
