Shoeing Stock—–Re-Visited

Shoeing Stock—–Re-Visited

We are going tomorrow to purchase a used shoeing stock!

Tra!  La!

Once again……………..I don’t collect designer shoes…….no Prada…….no Saint Laurent…….no Chanel………no Burberry.

Well, maybe Burberry.

I like their boots.  Fashionably serviceable.

Very agro-equestrian……………..but still too expensive………………I’ll look for knock-offs.

I’m really looking forward to getting a horse shoeing stock for Claire.

There’s something fundamentally wrong with me at the core……….

I know this because…………collecting bits & bridles is more fun for me than buying clothes or mall shopping.

…………hmmmmmmmmmm, too much self-introspection (what other kind of introspection is there?)………..I actually don’t care that used shoeing stocks make me happy.

They just do.

Soon, I’ll actually have photos to share with you.  Public domain photos just don’t adequately cover shoeing stocks……………..I don’t know why.

I’m glad the stock is used.  It’s even on skids.  Portable tonnage.

I can make the horses move it if I have to.

The dry-rot repair will, no doubt, be much cheaper than buying a brand-spanking new stock ($1000.00+).  The hardware alone was going to be over $400.00.

So, this stock is up just north of Ocala.  I’ve arranged for a friend to drive with me with his flatbed trailer (very important) so we can bring it back home.

This is the same friend who has done repair work on my cooker/smoker in the past.

In fact, when he drops off the stock, he’ll take the cooker/smoker for the next round of repairs……………new, welded, propane-tank rack…………….new burner for the turkey-fryer………………new tires to replace the old, sun-rotted ones……………….new road-worthy indicator lights and stop lights.

Then my baby should be good to go.

My Beloved Mahindra Tractor & PTO & Fork Lift

And he said he can repair our tractor’s forklift……………..our compressed alfalfa bales weigh about 1000 pounds and they are bending the connections to the tractor’s PTO.

The bales weigh well within the limits of the forklift specs, but……………

………….so much for truth in advertising…………..

*****(Quick Quiz:  What’s a PTO?  We’ve learned that agro-jargon earlier, now haven’t we?  I know you can do it!  Yes, you can!  Yes, you can!  Now, what is it?  You can do it!  Come on……………..)*****

*****Answer:  A PTO stands for “power take off”.  It basically transfers power from an engine (the tractor’s) to an apparatus (back-blade; bush-hog; forklifts, or posthole auger, we don’t have one of those—–I’m the posthole auger.)*****

My friend is going to check out the forklifts for a future welding assault and take home the cooker/smoker (which I will miss desperately) for more sprucing-up.

Yippee!!!  It’s a Win—–Win!

I have to do some quick thinking on where to put this new shoeing-stock-toy.

Oh wait…………….it’s on skids.  I can make the horses move it………………..HA!

(Here’s another slight (very slight) problem………….we are going to a Clydesdale breeding farm for this used shoeing stock………….I can’t foresee any problem there…………..can you?…)

HA!!!
