Sabine’s babies are growing and healthy…..

They are coming up to three weeks old…..

Their eyes are open…..

And the little fuzz-balls are just starting to think about eating gruel and soaked kibble…..

It’s that super fun messy stage…where they wear more than they actually eat…..

Sabine has been a great Mom…..

She has produced milk abundantly throughout…..

We did pull out some special herbs from our apothecary cupboard…to help her maintain and augment her milk production…..

Red raspberry leaf is a wonderful herb…for all sorts of pre-birth and post-birth concerns…along with bumping up the milk supply…..

We also use nettle leaf and fenugreek on a daily basis for the same reasons…..

We re-hydrate the herbs with water and a little Karo Syrup ahead of time…then right before feeding…we top it off with handfuls of kibble mixed in…along with yogurt…(and of course her fresh eggs)…..

Early on…Sabine would beg for and eat the egg shells…but when that became undesirable…I felt more confident that her calcium levels were okay…..

Mother Nature usually tells us what we want or need…if we just listen…..

…..(I hear very clearly her telling me that I need mediocre bourbon and coke on a regular basis)…..

…..(I think it’s important to listen)…(Mother Nature knows these things)…..

Sabine eagerly scarfs down her daily herbal mixture…along with her “pudding”…and beef liver…..

…..and (sigh)………….the eggs…..

But our around the clock feedings will start to get more reasonable and less exhausting…now that the puppies’ eyes are open…and we can begin to introduce “solid” foods to their diet…..

Sabine will be able to start getting her figure back…and allow her ravaged teats to heal…..

We still have all eight babies…and everyone is thriving…..

My philosophy is:  Work Hard…Be Persistent…and Count Your Blessings Wherever You Can Find Them…..
