*****Rocket Meets The Big Pasture*****

The dude is growing up…..
He doesn’t spend his nights in the box stall anymore…..
He now spends them (still with his Mom) in the paddock behind the barn…..

Then…..in the mornings…..after all of the horses are shifted around to other sections of the farm…..
…..Mom and Rocket go into their own big pasture…..

…..Ooooooooooo…..
He has his own big water tank…..
…..(which he is still too young to drink from)…..

…..(but he splashes in it)…..
He has his own big/compressed/bale of alfalfa…..

…..(which he is still to young to eat)…..
…..(but he gums it)…..

He has his Mom with him for his own-personal-all-you-can-nurse-milk-buffet…..
Life is good…..

He can run…..he can jump…..he can buck & kick…..(with laser accuracy)…..
…..(he even “moon-walks” backwards towards you…..so he can line you up as a target to kick)…..(did I mention…..he’s a booger!)…..

…..and he naps…..
…..he does a lot of napping…..

He’s met his Dad over the fence line…..
Dad doesn’t know what to do with him…..

…..plus…..Claire won’t let him stay too long or get too close…..
…..and he’s met his “Aunts” over the fence line…..

…..in fact his Aunt Anja was the one to sucker him into putting his mouth on the electric fence for the first time…..
…..(she planned it)…..(she coerced him)…..

…..(she snickered afterwards)…..
…..but he had to learn sooner than later…..

…..he put his mouth right on it!…..
…..that had to hurt!…..

But like I’ve said before…..electric fencing is really the best way to keep draft horses contained…..
…..any other board fencing…..they just lift it up or lean against it until it breaks…..
…..their DNA tells them to lean into things (like their harness collars)…..

…..so leaning on a match-stick fence is no big deal…..(to them)…..
…..I won’t do barbed wire…..

…..so…..electric-wire fencing it is…..
…..it works well…..

…..after it’s first zap…..

Really enjoying Rocket’s story. Glad he has a place with other horses to meet and play around. Happy little dude!!
