…..probably not a well-chosen topic…..

But a topic that might bear some attention…(or not?)…..

~~~~~~~Southern People’s Feet~~~~~~~

Living up North…it gets cold for part of the year…..

Socks are necessary…outer-footwear is a must…if you want to keep all your toes…..

People are geared to moisturizing everything that’s chapped…including their feet…..

But here in the South…where it’s always humid & moldy…..

…..there’s a weather-related laxity…some could call it a laziness…and moisturization just adds to the oil-slick…..

With the warm weather comes a laissez-faire attitude about footwear…..

…..and I’ve succumbed…..

My older daughter thinks I’m a disappointment…..

…..(I can live with that)…..

A total elimination of shoes can be found amongst a lot of Red-Necks…and apparently I’m one of them…..

…..bold colors are recommended where nail polish is concerned…(pastels just don’t cover the dirty toe edges as successfully)…..

Foot fungus is a thing…..

…..nothing that stepping into a pan of Clorox bleach can’t cure…..

Sometimes my heels get so rough…I could use them to smooth the surface on rough-cut cypress boards…..

…..(just joking………….not really)…..

My daughter is into skin care and also believes that everyone should have appropriately colored & textured elbows and heels…..

She’s started tackling my face recently with regularity…..

She wants to see what can be done with a good moisturizing regime…(after decades of neglect)…..

I think it might be an insurmountable project with all the age-spot tattoo’ing…..

She’s regularly trying to exfoliate my face…my skin is reminiscent of the migrating dunes of Egypt…..

…..who knows what’s at the bottom of some of those crevices?…lost mummies…pharoh’s treasures?…..

I’m not worried about the condition of my elbows………….I can’t see them…..

But I’m fairly sure…my feet are worse…..

Because yanking them into position…for a visual inspection…well…that boat has already sailed…..

So…I’m taking the position that ignorance is bliss…where the bottoms of my feet are concerned…..

…..they got that way…on scalding sidewalks…regular sand-blasting…more searing cement…and desensitizations from random sharp shell shards…nasty hard acorns…and spot moisturization with occasional mis-steps onto camouflaged chicken poop…..

Where my face is concerned…after all of my daughter’s efforts and ablutions…..

…..it might be improving…..

…..(surprisingly so)…..

…..my feet?…..

My daughter won’t touch my feet…..

…..and my elbows?…I don’t care………….I still can’t see them…..

She’s making a valiant effort…..

…..but where the South is concerned…..

Beauty is an uphill battle…..
