Rearview Mirror

Today my older daughter and I dug up all of the area where the botulism-tainted alfalfa bale had been.
It was on the suggestion from the Corporal from the County Environmental Crimes Unit.
So we did.
He also suggested taking it to the County Dump to be incinerated.
And, so we did.
I think additionally, I will put some cut down pine logs in that hole and make a bonfire with them.
That way no future horses would be interested in snuffling around pine ashes.
Plus I have three, fifty pound bags of lime powder. I’ll broadcast that over the ashes…
I’d say, that’s as good a job as I can do.
Plus, from what I’ve learned about botulism toxins…………they become unviable quickly when exposed to air.
Well, I will be exposing them to air, flame, and lime………if there happens to be anything left from last April’s sadness.
This is a utilitarian post.
No attempt at any humor.
Just getting the job done.
And so we did…………
R.I.P. friends.
