Hens can be single-minded…..

…..with their tiny…..tiny heads…..

…..I don’t think there’s a lot going on in there to begin with…..

Hens can get an idea…..and they just won’t let it go…..

…..come hell or high water…..

…..(I’ve known some people like that)…..

Here’s an example…..

…..they can pick really bad…..or really unsafe places to lay their eggs…..

~~~Recently I’ve seen one of our hens fly up into the hayloft each morning to lay her daily egg…..

…..at first glance…..I thought…..that’s not a catastrophic idea…..right?…..

…..except what happens when her chicks start hatching…..?…..

…..they can’t fly…..they can barely wobble around without loosing their balance…..

………….how are they going to get down from a second story building?………….

…..take the stairs?…..

~~~And let’s not forget the hen who hatched out her babies in the horse trailer…..

…..safe…..but how were they going to get out…..

…..not to mention food or water…..

…..(human intervention was necessary so the babies could eat and drink and not starve inside the horse trailer)…..

~~~But here’s another bozo-hen-decision…..

…..one of the girls decided to lay eggs in one of the nooks on top of “Ole Sparky” (our generator)…..

…..not a great choice…..

…..why not pick the safety of the chicken coop?…..

…..why not?…..

…..I don’t know…..!…..

I took the hen off of Ole Sparkey…..

…..she wouldn’t even stand up when I put her on the ground…..

…..she just sat there in the same position…..for hours…..

…..later that night…..I took her to the coop…..

And the next morning…..she was back again…..

We did this tango for a few nights…..

…..with the same results EVERY morning afterwards…..

AND THEN…..

…..she’d made her nest on top of Ole Sparky look so desirable…..

…..that she attracted another hen…..

…..and now she’s sharing it with ANOTHER stupid hen…..

I give up…..

The hens win…..

That is unless a raccoon discovers them…..
